If they can make Gulf countries fear or respect Iran more than USA, they will join sides with Iran. This is why Iran has to hit the US military hard, killing as many US soldiers as possible to prove to Arabs that the presence of the US is not needed because a stronger local force(Iran) can defeat them asymmetrically, so they should cozy up to Iran a local player instead of an extra-regional player from 10,000 kilometers away that has no business putting soldiers here.

We are looking at a war that can very well result in shifting the power balance so the US will devolve from superpower status to only a regional power centered in the Americas.

Well it is not innocent civilians fault what is happening. People holidaying or working in UAE are innocent people and do deserve to leave if they want to without being harassed or targeted.
