Bangladesh has strongly condemned the violation of sovereignty in several Gulf Arab countries, including Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, following the recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, and retaliatory strikes on US bases in the region.
The government also expressed deep concerns regarding the safety and security of Bangladeshi nationals residing in Iran amid the ongoing conflict, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.
The statement came hours after Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on early Sunday in a massive US and Israeli attack that extended into a second day Sunday, as the two powers seek to topple the Islamic republic.
‘In the wake of attacks on Iran, Bangladesh continues to be deeply concerned at the safety and security of Bangladeshi nationals residing in this country,’ said the release.
‘Bangladesh also condemns the violation of sovereignty of some countries of the region, including Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates,’ it mentioned.
Bangladesh warns that the continuation of hostilities will only endanger regional peace, stability, and the wellbeing of civilian populations. It calls upon all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and return to diplomacy to resolve the differences.
Bangladesh hopes that calm will prevail at the earliest and peace, security, and stability will be restored soonest across the region.
