*PNS KHAIBAR PARTICIPATES IN EXERCISE TURGUTREIS-XIII WITH TURKISH NAVY*

The newly commissioned, state-of-the-art Pakistan Navy Ship KHAIBAR, during its maiden voyage from Türkiye to Pakistan, visited Aksaz Naval Base, Türkiye, and participated in Exercise TURGUTREIS-XIII and joint patrols with ships of the Turkish Navy.

During the stay at Aksaz, the Commanding Officer of PNS KHAIBAR called on the Turkish Southern Sea Area Commander, Vice Admiral Rafet Oktar. During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing bilateral naval cooperation and fostering regional stability through collaborative efforts.

Later, Southern Sea Area Commander, Vice Admiral Rafet Oktar, and Commander Aksaz Naval Base, Rear Admiral Hamdi Abanoz, along with other Turkish Naval Forces officers, visited PNS KHAIBAR.

Following the port visit, PNS KHAIBAR participated in the PN-TN bilateral Exercise TURGUTREIS-XIII with Turkish Naval Forces ship TCG HEYBELIADA and a TNF SH-70 helicopter. The exercise featured a variety of sea evolutions to rehearse joint maritime operations and enhance interoperability. Upon culmination of the exercise, PNS KHAIBAR and TCG HEYBELIADA conducted a Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

The successful conduct of bilateral Exercise TURGUTREIS-XIII and CORPAT stands as a testament to the enduring strategic partnership and brotherly ties shared between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Does this mean Pakistan will shoot down Iranian drones or missiles targeting ships? I don’t get the point of this. Even USA backed away from Hormuz because of how dangerous it is. Iran targeted all its neighbours so far except Pakistan. This will give them a reason to target Pakistani ships and Pakistan. Even if Pakistan is conventionally stronger, that will mean Pakistan fights 2 active wars, full fledged insurgencies, and maintain war posture with India.

I think this is a bad decision. The only ships that need to be protected are Pakistani owned ships, which haven’t been targeted by Iran yet.

Let's not chicken out.
They are payed to ensure Maritime security of Pakistan.
IRGC is now a days operating without any central command, any frustrated local commander can fire some drone at any target, so precautions are good to be taken.

This operation is focused on ensuring safe trade through international waters, nothing to do with Iranian territorial waters.

Some actions are designed for media coverage, now having said that I am not saying Navy is doing just a media stunt.

My understanding is that Pakistan might have reached an unconventional / unofficial understanding with Iran that ship carrying POL for Pakistan or their destination towards Pakistan might not be targeted by them but these ships still need security from elements of chaos and disability during their journey towards Pakistani ports.

Therefore support from PN is required

I don't think this is only against Iran. I am not even sure if this includes providing passage through SoH. It could because Iranians are now saying that only Israeli, US and EU flagged tankers will not be allowed.

I think the PN actions are more in line with threats of piracy against tankers. Oil on the high seas is an extremely valuable commodity right now given the short supplies and ensuring that the tankers that Pakistan has requisitioned make it to our ports has evidently become a strategic compulsion.

This means escorting PNSC and other requisitioned tankers to and from our ports in our sea lanes and littoral waters.

Only Pakistani civilian ships hopefully, let Iran do their thing
