It will be very interesting to see how Americans will react if China indeed decided to take Taiwan by force. One thing i learned after talking to American from different profession and ideologies that Americans are very easy to fool, no I am not talking about the 1% or 10%'er but the General public, they are sheep that mostly follow their govt and consider people enemies which their govt have told them over the years, from the times of cold war to war on terror and now Iran/China.
I had this one conversation with a 35 year old co-worker outside of work capacity over China, he has been to China couple of times for his business and his own words that he never face any hate from the Chinese people, but he would still want to see China destroyed/tamed because he see China as threat to Western Dominance of the world and for that he has no issue if America nuke China or outright murder millions, I ask him that for Chinese you are the enemy/imperialist and threat and to you they are so its subjective but that doesn't really matter, mind you this guy is very liberal and someone who consider himself atheist leftist, but sound more like a Christian who will support burning the whole world down if it means for Texas Jesus to return.
Americans although criticize their govt but they will not hold a strong opinion as long as the govt belongs to the side they support, whether its Gaza Genocide, Attack on Iran, or future war with Chinese.
One can blame that Americans are now mostly programmed to believe that they are always right, the messiah complex runs deep in the society that we are destined (by divine or power or economic success) to rule the world and what we say/do/will do is right and everyone who say no must be destroyed either by force or economic chokehold, And most worrisome is that they believe very strongly about this, you can talk to any American a right/left/conservative/liberal/Gay/Tran and most of them will tell you that their people lives values more than any other humans, hence i often hear in my friend group that if America dies than we should kill 10's in return, now i get that you want to make sure that no one kills an American but this behavior leads to desensitivity towards other people, and they just shrug it off the deaths of countless "Others".
As recent as when American missile take out Iranian kids, a "Anti-war" guy in his 60's was like, yeah sad that those kids died but Iranians needed to be taught a lesson, it feels like people here have become so desensitized towards death that nothing phase them for as long as American dominance is secured, even a Party goer and someone who are self proclaimed hippies believe yeah all life is precious but when it comes to dominating the world it must be America and if American govt inflict war to achieve that is although bad but acceptable price. until this mindset is change America will not stop at anything to dominate the world and attacking other countries. Some govts can be more tolerant of others but eventually once in a decade or two people will elect someone like Trump will con the whole country by telling them he is most anti war president while attacking several countries and doing illegal strikes and not respecting sovereignty of others.
I think If Iran survives, and ME wakes up (doubt it) that will be a major wake up call for America to stop their aggression towards everyone they don't like, China taking back Taiwan will reinforce that same believe in the world, now I will definitely support a peaceful reunification but we all know that's not gonna happen, eventually China will have to use force if they want Taiwan back or just accept Taiwan as independent country and forfeit your claim over it. China's reluctance is understandable but its necessary for them to first take care of their own internal (Taiwan) issues before marching outwards to challenge the America, I believe the world is moving into a pit of wars which i don't see ending for at least next 10-20 years, Iran/Lebanon/Pakistan-Afgh/India one conflict after another and given how nobody gives a shit about UN anymore more and more countries will try to settle scores which they keep for years and UN try to hold them off, everyone is taking the gloves off and i think its high time China do the same, Russia did it, Israel did it, India did it, Pakistan did it, Azerbaijan/Armenia did it, Thailand/Cambodia did it, Afghanistan did it, Iran did it and its China's turn now.
