I don't think the goal is to hold them, it's to take them out of Iranian hands which, given that the US currently has about 4% is it's entire air fleet in the region and it's dominant shows that it should be a trivial task. Anyone trying to hold a small island once hostilities start will be signing a death sentence so I don't think either side will attempt that once an initial clearing has been done. A few Apaches would hold off any future attack once the area is cleared.
There's so much delusion on this sub, Iranian forces are poorly trained and equipped, Iran's firing a few missiles here and there, in retaliation for airstrikes levelling blocks, leadership being annihilated, infrastructure being destroyed. Americans would take any island with ease and if they then back off they can stop any future Iranian presence.
There is a small single digit percentage of American assets in the area but that's enough to stop any Iranian ground forces to even get near, look what happened to the Wagner forces in Syria when up against a few American operators, and that's Wagner forces, vastly superior to Iranians.
So many people on here spreading fake X posts, images etc, random made up stories of a Japanese mercenary which is clearly AI
It's a symptom of stupid people, most people in developing nations believe everything they read on the internet without even fact checking.
Iran's missiles are all they have and right now, in terms of damage that they have inflicted to the US, it's not even 0.0001% of what the US has. They hit a few airbases which mostly have a handful of contractors in and a few trainers, a few aircraft (remember the US has an insane amount of every type of aircraft) and the US has thousands of nukes at the end of the day.
I'm not being biased, I'm just not a moron who thinks Iran is winning haha, the strait is a great tactic of course but it's not a new tactic and it's not a military tactic either, this is economic war and it's the only play Iran has.

I'm not proud of the state of the navy/air force, on the contrary, I'm just mocking the US "goals", which went from taking full control of Iran with Khamenei unconditionally surrendering to "destroy the navy and the air force", which were largely out of date because of IRIYou guys keep saying that as if it's something to be proud of.
It is humiliating for a proud country like Iran with incredible resources and intelligent population not to have an air force or a navy.
If we had an air force, we could've received weapons from other countries, including critical components of a nuclear device. The US and Israel have established total air dominance over Iran with fewer than 300 fighter jets, most of them are F-15s, F-16s and F-18s.
Without an air force, we will have a hard time moving our troops around, let alone defending them.
Ok... an Air force from whom???Without an air force, we will have a hard time moving our troops around, let alone defending them.
Mate, you're responding to someone who pretty much just said as his opening spiel: "the goal isn't to take the islands out of Iran's hands, rather it's to take the islands out of Iran's hands".Iran winning is survival even after taking incredible damage to life and property. Everyone pretty much gets it.
The fact that you can't comprehend that, means you are here with an agenda.
Or may be you are a "moron", like you are trying to label others here.
another Predator drone downed over Iran - this time over Isfahan
