I never said only special forces would be needed. You’d likely need a battalion to set up a defensive perimeter, then fly in the excavation equipment, ammo, housing, food/water etc.

Set up a defensive perimeter for what? Wait for the IRGC to come out?

Dude, if we are going to take Iranian HEU, we are the ones who are going in, not the other way around, it's going to be pointless to set up a Defensive Perimeter....We are not playing the game "The men who stares at goats"........

Just to keep things in perspective, while Iran has damaged an F-35, which will likely will be scrapped, and downed an F-15, a Blackhawk has been downed, an F-16 supposedly hit as well. And, let's not forget about the mounting losses of drones. A KC-135 lost. Others damaged. An E-3 destroyed. Personnel injured. Killed.

Let's not focus on the shiny side of the coin.

You set up a defensive perimeter so excavation can begin. You’re talking a multi day process to remove the HEU. The perimeter would likely be setup by Airborne and Ranger units. Special forces would be inserted into the complex for HEU removal.

Which part of "We are going to them, not they are coming to us" do you not understand?

They didn't just randomly bury 800kg of nuclear material in the sand or in a cave that you can just dig it up and access it, it's in some sort of tunnel, room, or vault that was going to be guarded by tens of thousands of IRGC troops.

Setting up DP for what? So you look at the IRGC in their camp where the HEU were looking back at you?
