Iran - Israel/US War: Israel-US declare war on Iran, Iran responds

capturing his dead body is still worthwhile

didn't our military leaders invite the US army to come to Iranian territory if they dare, and now they are flying over our border provinces for hours with helicopters in low altitude in daylight? they should have been better prepared for this.

now we know why they tried to order 3000 MANPADs from Russia (a bit late for that).

You want to find one pilot in this remote region of Iran with no helicopters or specialized planes while the other side has satellites, GPS beacons and countless drones and Search and rescue looking for him?

I mean you guys really need to get your expectations in check.

When the US lost a F-35 in South Carolina it took them 24 hours to find the jet because the pilot ejected and the plane kept flying.

The only fair criticism is why more helicopters or the low flying C-130 wasn’t hit. But again they are shielded by mountains so you need some tribal warlords to have manpads sitting and waiting or an AA team that survived the intial sweep.

Yes, but the fact that we haven't been able to shoot down a C-130, a flying coffin by all means, deep inside our territory after nearly 3 hours does not bode well for us.

Our troops should've been close to the area with MANPADs already.
THat C-130 is not flying alone unprotected. We are only seeing glimpses. Just because they are not being targeted in the short videos coming out doesn't mean that they have freedom of movement throughout Iranian skies especially when they are there as a response to a tactical Fighter/attack aircraft being downed by Iran.

C-130 and MQ-9 and helicopters flying deep in Iran for hours in broad daylight ...

did we send all our MANPADs to other countries or something?

Artesh has no base in that entire province?

Some sources say near Kharg Island, others say Khuzestan, and now they are saying neighboring provinces.

Fog of war.

Capturing the pilot would be a huge morale boost. If a ground invasion is imminent, maybe Iran doesn't want to mobilize troops and risk losing tactical advantage or revealing its hand. Iran's success will largely depend on the local population defending its territory. I could be wrong, but that's the way I see it.

naturally, they couldn't disarm Hamas (yet), so they have no realistic prospect of disarming Hezbollah

They were hoping to get the Lebanese army to do their work for them.

Do you realize the earth is curved? A plane flying below a radar’s azimuth means it stays undetected. It’s not magic, it’s how radar waves work, they are blasted upwards from their source. Mountains block radar waves (assuming Iran has any)

So yes it wouldn’t be too hard for helicopters to fly 50-100KM inside Iran low and thru remote regions to find the pilots. Ukraine does this all the time.

did we send all our MANPADs to other countries or something?

Manpads have a range of a few KM. Again you think IRGC are sitting in mountains just hoping a plane flies above them in a country the size of most of Europe.

Artesh has no base in that entire province?

Bases were evacuated weeks ago. And it wouldn’t be Artesh mission. It would be spec ops team rapid deployment teams that would take the call.

Reza_mad claimed 2 hours before any news came out that the one pilot was rescued, that the pilot was rescued and another captured by Iran.

So let’s see if he’s right:
