*PAK-CHINA JOINT NAVAL EXERCISE SEA GUARDIAN IV CULMINATES AT KARACHI*

Exercise SEA GUARDIAN IV, conducted from 25 Mar to 1 Apr 2026 between Pakistan Navy and PLA ( N ), aimed to enhance interoperability and maritime cooperation between the two navies. The exercise comprised two phases, including a five-day port visit to Karachi and a two-day sea phase in the North Arabian Sea.

PLA ( N ) Ship DAQING was accorded a warm welcome by PNS TAIMUR upon arrival for Exercise SEA GUARDIAN IV. The exercise featured various bilateral activities, including exchange visits onboard fleet units, orientation visits to naval installations, and professional discussions focusing on contemporary maritime challenges. A maiden Young Officers Seminar was also conducted, along with preparations for the sea phase.

Upon culmination of the port visit, PN and PLA ( N ) ships participated in the sea phase of the exercise. Major exercises conducted during the sea phase included Air Defence Exercises encompassing tactics to counter multi-domain swarm attacks, exercises with a Pakistan Navy submarine, a conventional War at Sea exercise and Live Gunnery Firing. These activities enhanced interoperability between the two navies at both operational and tactical levels.

The successful culmination of Exercise SEA GUARDIAN IV was followed by a PN–PLA ( N ) Coordinated Patrol in the Arabian Sea, underscoring the commitment and resolve of both navies towards maritime security and stability in the region.

It's range is only 350km compared to 500km of Brahmos
Notably its very hard to intercept in those 350km. Barak 8 has very limited ABM capability which is gonna be basically self defence only and barak 1 likely cannot engage it

IMO MLU of that level shouldnt be done on ships which were siad to have probelms with its navigation , its an outdated design an probably would be a waste of resources .
In my previous comment i have sad that they should remain as the test bed of Smash like now.
PN upgrading z-class to this extent wont come any time soon , even if it mostly it mostly will be to upgrade the HQ 7 with a newer chinese AD system rather then changing to a way expensive Camm.
Should allocate those funds to jinnah class
What above deck system do chinese have that can replace hq-7? Zulfiqars were a stupid purchase and PN shouldve bought them with vls or waited to buy 054s.

*PN INDUCTS STATE OF THE ART PLATFORMS & NICHE TECHNOLOGIES CAPABLE TO TARGET CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE & NAVAL ASSETS OF ADVERSARY: ADMIRAL NAVEED ASHRAF*

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, emphasized the importance of a strong, balanced and technologically advanced Navy during the induction ceremony of the 2nd PN MILGEM Class Corvette, PNS KHAIBAR, into Pakistan Navy's fleet.

Addressing the gathering, CNS highlighted that Pakistan’s strategic location along vital maritime trade and energy corridors demands a potent naval force to safeguard national interests and ensure secure Sea Lines of Communications (SLOCs).

Naval Chief underscored that during Marka-e-Haq, Pakistan Navy was poised to sink Indian Navy Aircraft Carrier which forced Indian Navy to remain retreated in their perceived safe havens. The mastery and conduct of Naval operations during Marka-e-Haq delivers an unequivocal message that any attempt to challenge Pakistan’s maritime interests will be met with an appropriate response.

Naval Chief emphasized that Pakistan Navy is being equipped with state of the art platforms and niche technologies enabling it to target critical infrastructure/ vulnerabilities and naval assets of adversary. Inductions of advanced platforms like PNS KHAIBAR and the forthcoming HANGOR Class Submarines mark a milestone in PN’s modernization; enhancing operational flexibility, combat power and the strategic reach.

Concluding his address, Naval Chief extended best wishes to PNS KHAIBAR crew while reaffirming Pakistan Navy’s resolve to defend sovereign seas and uphold its responsibility as guardian of the maritime frontiers.

SMASH isn't a true ballistic missile though, it's quasi ballistic. It isn't that hard for modern ADS to shoot down a mach 2-3 missile at 75k feet. A supersonic sea skimming missile is far more deadlier.

but brahmos isnt sea skimming? in may them fly almost 100 ft over targets. truly sea skimming whilst going that fast is very hard to pull off and would limit range even more drastically. smash meanwhile has same profile despite range

Brahmos/oniks fly high up for most of their flight and then sea Skim for the final approach to target, their SSM versionscan't terrain hug like subsonics can because of their poor turn radius caused by their speed.

Brahmos over land and Brahmos over sea are entirely different things. Brahmos can't hug the terrain because it likely has little to no obstacle avoidance unlike a Tomahawk. Over sea it doesn't face this issue.

Few more interesting facts:

1: Turkish assistance has allowed sustenance of this warship
2: No airdefense capability was provided/allowed by US
3: It's Hanger was modified to accommodate Sea King heli
4: PN loves PNS Alamgir gas turbines
5: Once we had plan to get 3-5 more OHPs

We are close to mid 2026 and still not a single Hangoor in sight, those 8 subs are something that will give PN the biggest punch and if i remember correctly the rumors started of as early as 2015. Damn that's 11 years and still not 1 is delivered :(
