Because it's all ego for the Indians, it's a extension of their fantasist history and world view of India being a superpower

So rather then going "shit, we lost another plane, something is seriously wrong and we need to work out what it is"

Exactly, and actually this thinking has helped Pakistan armed forces immensley over the years. It is incredibly difficult to erase a culture like that from an institution.....

That fire was initiated by sparks from the fuselage itself, due to unconsumed JP fuel on the runway due to fuel dumping from the previously landed aircraft..
(making IAF job easier at explaining)

It's a Tire burst which caused damage to landing gear and under carriage

Will take a month to fix
