This entire thread is full of silly arguments, from both sides of the border. There are few good posts but some of those are spoilt by incomplete understanding of the topic.
But thanks for the comedy, South Asians never fail to amuse.
Factually it means nothing, it is just an administrative issue as already explained by I think steepwolf, can't be bothered to go back and check the post.
Beyond that,
If you were conspiracy minded, many have proven to be true over time, it could be part of an effort to free India from Pakistan. The World Bank president is an Indian, it's Europeand America that set it’s agenda.
India cannot rise without being the big boy in this region of South Asia, other countries are already virtual servants and there are many Bangladeshis here with their noses up the Indianbackside sniffing the good stuff. The only country India has never been able to dominate is Pakistan.
It couldn't do it when Pakistan was 10 times smaller, right now that difference is 6 times, and Pakistan is projected to have a population of half a billion people, that's a giant in it’s own right.
Take Pakistan out of this region of South Asia and it allows India to be the hegemon, with that in place, establish partnerships with ASEAN, as a grouping and individual nations mildly presenting it as a collective good, (secretively against China), combine that with the Western support and the path for it's global rise becomes manifestly easier.
Regarding Pakistan and this region of South Asia.
Subcontinent is purely a geological term, it’s not a political term neither is it a geographical term.
The only legally recognised term for this region is South Asia.
It’s not Subcontinent or Indian subcontinent or Asian subcontinent, these are meaningless terms. They belong in the realm of geology. not history, politics or geography.
South Asia is a term recognised by the United Nations and all international organisations as the Only official term. This is a fact.
Regarding the Arab obsession.
You're all Arabs, the Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. Where the do you think you came from? You didn't grow out of the earth, the dominant theory is out of Africa.
The lot of you came from the West, you're all Arabs.
With regards to recent history,
No, we’re not all Hindus, both Hinduism and Buddhism dominated this region prior to the arrival of Islam.
But Hinduism isn't a religion, it’s an umbrella term for a wide set of beliefs which have only just took on a collective meaning merely few hundreds years ago.
We were not Muslim, but it’s overly simplistic to say we were Hindus, even if you accept that collective term, it’s still wrong because Buddhism was dominant for much of the history of Indus region.
Then it begs the question what were you before being a Hindu?
Hinduism also has a starting point, it’s merely 3000 odd years old. Hindus are also converts from something else.
Since the first civilisation is ours, the Indus civilisation, Hindus converted away from Us, we’re the original standard bearers lol, if you want to get technical, besides being a little amusing it is factually correct.
I did my DNA test, my links to the soil go back upwards of 40,000 years form the maternal side (South Lebanon and Syria) and 25,000 years on the paternal side (South Jordan and North Arabia).
Since before the Indus Valley Civilisation and continuously, covering KPK, Kashmir and North Punjab.
Lastly,
There are very few countries in the world that straddle civilisation crossing points. Pakistan is the most diverse amongst them all.
We sit on the cross roads of
Gangetic civilisation,
Sinic civilisation,
Persian civilisation,
Turkic civilisation,
Arab civilisation,
We also had historical trading links with Eastern Africa due to trade winds. And wider afield due to the Silk roads.
While Pakistan has been influenced by all these, we have also influenced them, it’s been a two way street but we do not sit firmly with any of them because Pakistan is uniquely unique purely due to it’s location. I am not saying it is good or bad, I am merely stating a fact.
As in most things in life, we're free to pick and choose those we want to keep closer and those we choose to keep further away. Naturally Islam forms the core of Pakistani ethos,it is our moral compass, therefore we will be attracted to those societies which contain in their core a Islamic framework, not in the religious sense but in the cultural sense.
