With the current IRIAF you´re right. It was suicidal.
And again they did it. And it is heroic.
IRIAF have shown that even in their sunset, they bright once more time.
After the war, they deserve good fighters and dedicated force multipliers like tankers and AEW.

My take on this - and your initial sentence is a very fair suggestion - is firstly, that none of those countries are positioned at the SoH and hence USA exerts less capability against Iran's blockade from those countries, and secondly, no military base for USA is available in Az or Arm. Even Turkiye is only really a NATO base. Thirdly, positioning forces within Israel limits USA's operational reach.

In short, deploying in GCC is operationally best for USA hence they would prefer to be there. If GCC are willing to pay the price of having them stationed there, it is on their shoulders.

As for Israel "winning", it will keep winning regardless of Iranian actions or inactions, unless and until USA is forced to withdraw for military reasons (extremely unlikely) or economic/political reasons (unlikely but at least more plausible than the former). Israel can only be rolled back regionally if its right hand is broken.

Btw, I'm not saying anything in the above that folks don't already know.

Theocratic Iran regime playing brinkmanship for their religious and national interests. Their take, our economy is hurt already, we will hurt ME, Asia, and world economy. That's how they want to make war expensive for USA internationally. Well, if Iranians kick my stomach, and I am Saudi, I am gonna hit them back, and rest of the world.

So the idea is to let US run their combat ops from the GCC withiut repercussions? Israel has won there then.
