It open a huge door for corruption (from Pakistan side) as well, but then again if the result works... all good I guess.

Civilian system will aslo do corruption, along with being incompetent, slow or wrong in assessments. That would be more disastrous.

Exactly the opposite. Due to the lack of system support in export versions, they will not only not be downgraded, but may even have some performance enhancements. For example, the 054AP and J-10CE purchased by Pakistan have some capabilities that the 054A and J-10C do not possess.

What's the implications of the WS-21 engine being used instead of the WS-19, I suppose there will a slight determent?

WS-21 is a dead end, the WS-19 is the real deal and ideally the one PAF should go for. It has much better electrical power generation capabilities which is very important for driving lows of EW equipment, and sensors, computers etc.

If China wants PAF to purchase as a lead customer, PAF should insist on the WS-19 engine, or wait until it is available.

PAF did the same with the USA, insisting on the F16 versus the other alternatives, and should do the same here too.

I agree with that part and would like to further add that the non availability of J-20 for export by CAC could probably prompt the PAF to request certain additions/boosts that are part of J-20 to the J-35P.

PAF certainly won’t go for the typical AE, rather a heavily customized variant.

Asking for highly customised variants is a double edge sword, you gain military advantage through the additional changes, but you also "stop" rapid war time attrition replacements because they won't have the customised changes that the PAF doctrine for operating the platform depend on, and integrate with the rest of the PAF ecosystem.

I personally would prefer PAF went for plan vanilla J-35AE's for that reason so that war time replacements can be easily sourced.

Those bharats are thinking about retaliation everyday, and Pakistan needs to humiliate them even harder than 57.

They're very cautious now.

the day when PAF received J-35, we are going to see a huge wave of Indian melt down, I am happy to be an audience of the show.

They have a long data base of excuses and denials to choose from when such events happen, here is a selection;

-Chinese finishing is not great, rivets will come loose when the J-35 makes turns. This can impact combat performance.
-Chinese engines still have issues so the PAF would only be able to do limited sorties. Chinese engines have around 60 hours flight time before they need an overhaul. Expert professor Shamrit Dudhwallah Gujarati has stated this in his doctorate from Indian Institute of Science.
-RAM coating by China is not great and they cut costs , in-line with Chinese build ethic. The jet itself will have fourth generation visibility and Indian radars can pick this up from 400 miles away.
-It's not a true stealth jet and a glorified flanker copy.
-Chinese air to air missiles have poor Active Radar Homing so the PL-15 will miss its target.
-Chinese avionic suites are three decades behind everyone else so PAF pilots will not see incoming threats till too late.

Its export version could be called J-35AE, which has replaced the original FC-31, with Pakistani AF expected as the first customer.

FC-31 existed when this private project was still solely funded by SAC itself. After that , PLA got involved and started funding FC-31 project, and subsequently, the modified FC-31 prototype was designated as J35 and the original FC-31 discontinued. If exported version is based on J35, then it should be called J35AE.
