False, US could have achieved the same objective through negotiations and without the war as Iran was ready to give up the enriched uranium. Obama did it without firing a bullet.
US goals of the War:
1) Force Iran to abandon its nuclear program completely -
FAILED
2) Destroy Iran's ballistic missile capabilities -
FAILED (70% of missiles still intact together with underground missile manufacturing facilities)
3) Force Iran to stop supporting its proxies in the region -
FAILED
4) Topple the Regime -
FAILED
Instead:
1) US has demonstrated limits of its military power as US stockpiles of PGM have been exhausted in less than a month, while goals of the war have not been achieved.
2) Iranian regime survived and became more radical and the Iranian people is more united with the Regime than ever, while anti-government opposition is discredited as traitors.
3) US lost credibility as a security guarantor for the Gulf nations as they were pounded by Iran and US could do nothing about it.
4) US lost credibility with its European and Asian Allies as Trump did not even consult with them while this war did damage to their economies.
5) WIthin the US Trump became increasingly unpopular because of this war which can destroy his presidency.
6) Even within the US this war is being seen as DEFEAT.
Washington can’t reverse or control the consequences of losing this war.
