BBC summary: In response to calls to tighten the right of the Sikh community to carry ceremonial knives, Mahmood adds: "Let me be clear, carrying a knife for the purpose of religious observance is one thing," but using it is "quite another".
But the point is, Ms Mahmood, that "using" a knife won't happen if "carrying" a knife is EQUALLY illegal for Sikhs as it is for anyone else. These same leftie lunatics will bang on about US gun laws, whining (correctly imho) that not being able to carry a gun will obviate the risk of killing someone with a gun. But the same logic is denied here.
Imagine if in the USA, only ONE SINGLE group of ordinary citizens could carry loaded guns on the basis of some religious conviction, while every other group could not.
I don't hold out much hope for change, as the police, whose hands are still fundamentally tied when they are trying to just do their duty and protect people, will be scapegoated by any supposed "independent enquiry".
