It's well known fact that In the early part of the war, when Russia took the greatest losses, NATO help was non-existent, as they were taken by surprise and NATO could not react.
During the legendary defence of Kiev (March-April 2022) it was
Ukraine's army was largely equipped with Soviet-era tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, and aircraft inherited from the USSR and modernized since 1991, which repelled massive Russian armoured and infantry assaults, at some points on the front out numbered 40 : 1.
The country had benefited from military reforms, training, and limited Western assistance that had been provided since Russia's 2014 intervention in Crimea and Donbas. Early Western aid mainly consisted of portable defensive weapons such as the FGM-148 Javelin and NLAW, plus ammunition, intelligence sharing, and financial support.
Heavy Western equipment had not yet arrived in significant numbers until mid way through the war.

Russia held the following advantages;
Personnel: roughly parity overall (about 1:1).
Tanks and armoured vehicles: roughly 1.5–2:1 Russia.
Artillery: roughly 2–3:1 Russia.
Combat aircraft: roughly 3–5:1 Russia.
