Bangladesh Economy

In my POV it is a move by China to normalize rohingya genocide by the burmese.
.
Without solving rohingya issue these type of project proposal are useless.

It's not possible to implement. That region of Burma is hilly and full of dense jungles, moreover insurgency is rampant. A transit through a third country requires stability in the third country.

Since we are on BD economy, have the successor governments estimated the true size of BD GDP which was (allegedly) being inflated by Bongobandhobi SHW's govt?

@Prince_ @BananaRepublic @uksyl

It was spread by Jamatis but now quietly swept under the carpet.

They live to spread lies.

@baldfish

Thanks. Has the GoBD accepted the white paper? Has the BBS/ Central Bank officially stated what is the REAL GDP and updated IMF/WB accordingly?

Regards

Well what do you know the usual three indian stooges who never ever miss and opportunity to throw prasad at the temple of the phallic stone.

Here is the white paper report

Bhai, people with a working "human" brain can easily understand that Bangladeshs current GDP data is 3rd class india grade.
.
1. Google Bangladeshs current GDP (500+B USD) and then Google Bangladesh governments annual revenue (~37B USD).
2. Google Pakistans current GDP (~450B USD) and then Google Pakistan governments annual revenue (~48B USD).
3. Read these below articles about how Bangladesh government is suffocating our middle class and our businesses to generate more revenue.
#BKMEA President criticizes Bangladesh’s tax system complex, unethical
#Proposed budget burdens low-income individuals with higher taxes: CPD
.
If Bangladesh have bigger GDP than Pakistan, why GoB ain't able to generate revenue even closer to Pakistan? Why our government is over burdening our lower middle class and businesses with taxes?

I would appreciate if you didn't try to incite a fight. This issue has been discussed to death. You know this very well.

The claims of over inflated GDP came not only political opposition at the time - including both Jamaat and BNP, but it also came from International donors and World bank.

But BAL party affiliates love to brush it under the carpet as a conspiracy.

Here is an excerpt from a news report referring to World bank report -

"Donor agencies have long raised concerns about the quality of Bangladesh’s statistics. In 2022, the World Bank published a report titled Country Economic Memorandum: Change of Fabric. The report analyzed 30 years of statistics from 130 countries.

It showed that while Bangladesh’s average growth rate from 2009 to 2019 was claimed to be 7 percent, the actual growth rate was only 4.2 percent. In other words, the government had inflated the average growth rate by 2.8 percentage points over ten years. Additionally, the World Bank’s statistical capacity index showed a steadily declining score for Bangladesh."

Anyone with a decent understanding of economics and ground realities of actual development would know 2+2 doesn't add up to 4, when it comes to Bangladesh economy. That is people who have actually lived in Bangladesh.

But boasting about GDP numbers is beneficial to BAL affiliates, because that is what they use as a basis to justify the blatant disregard for human rights during Hasina's reign.

As for why it hasn't been corrected yet - it's pure politics. BNP can now use this to paint the same glorious picture and claim Bangladesh to be a middle income country. Even though during Hasina, they too were critical of the GDP numbers.

@LeonBlack08

So essentially, there is and will be no correction of the (allegedly) inflated GDP numbers. Btw, I too do think the BD GDP numbers are a bit inflated although not to the extent suggested by the detractors of SHW.

Yes, unlikely to see the correction under any new government. Even if Jamaat ever come to power, I am sure they will also not revise it for the political benefits.

In addition to the benefit of looking good on paper and getting a political victory, a higher GDP also allows us to borrow more from foreign lenders. So it is against the Interest of any new government to revise and correct the GDP.

As for the amount of inflation - my rule of thumb is to take a number somewhere in between from the range of two extremes.

I agree with you that the level of inflation may be lower than what Hasina critics claim.

Listen champ!

You are the liar because the number ISNT getting revised.

And about your lie about me getting infractions on the Indian forum - Joe Shearer actually wrote to me to apologise before he gave me the points because one of you muppet mods insisted he gives me a point.

You are a habitual land cowardly liar who makes accusations then bans people before they can reply.

Facts do matter.

Dude, you can keep making up stories, but don't make me pull your points record to show you how many other non Bangladeshi mods have given you points over time. You will come with stories, I will come with facts.

As for this particular post - I will let the admins decide the best course of action. So that you don't get to make up more stories later.

You made a claim in your post, I debunked it with the link to a World Bank published report. Pretty clear to everyone here who is lying and making up stories.
