But isn't 6 diesel AIP submarines for $10 billion a bit expensive ?
The offer to Australia for the Barracuda's was far more than this was.

Yes, and thats why having own tech matured early matters a lot coz our P-77 nuclear attack submarines under construction cost almost just as much per vessel but construction capacity is limited. But isn't 6 diesel AIP submarines for $10 billion a bit expensive ?
Yes but European weapons are always expensive..... Russian Amur would have come at much cheaper price but seems IN was not satisfied with those...But isn't 6 diesel AIP submarines for $10 billion a bit expensive ?
2 SSNs are under construction though.
German goodies have premium pricing, and there is also supposed to be some transfer of technology. But isn't 6 diesel AIP submarines for $10 billion a bit expensive ?
CCS approval comes for construction only. Meaning the design was ready from WDB and BARC and then was proposed to cabinet for sanctioning the project to build them. The first boat is to be inducted by 2036 so it has to be U/C now to reach that deadline. It is quite a stretch to characterize them as being " under construction " when even the design is far from being finalized.
Is there any confirmation these are coming with VLS cells? I don't have hopes but if they do then the costs are kinda justified.I think this price for U boats we are paying because there is every possibility we are getting these subs with non magnetic hull like U212.... otherwise we had option to go for Amur with VLS for Brahmos, French barracudas shortfins or simply for additional scorpeans..... navy seems to be keep it as a secret.....
I think the original CCS approval was done in 2015. If that happens only aftet design has been finalized, why is it going to take 21 years to construct a sub whose design has been locked down ?CCS approval comes for construction only. No confirmation on that... it was surely offered in Amur though.... but considering high price tag and knowing Germany we are still going ahead means something is not revealed to public..... either non magnetic hulll maybe it's U212 in the name of U214 or its coming with VLS as well...., this is going to be our IsrealI Drackon type....Is there any confirmation these are coming with VLS cells?
