The Egyptian and Chinese Air Forces will begin implementing the second edition of the joint training "Eagles of Civilization 2026" on Egyptian territory, starting from mid-August until early next September.

Colonel Chen Xi, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, announced this date during a press briefing held on Friday, August 14, 2026, according to what was reported by the New China News Agency (Xinhua) and the official China Military Online platform of the Chinese army.

The maneuvers, according to the Chinese spokesman's statements, focus on air combat tactics, achieving air superiority, combat search and rescue operations, in addition to force employment exercises and mission execution. Chen Xi described this edition as the “second iteration” of the joint training, stressing that it will enhance mutual trust and traditional friendship between the two countries, deepen practical cooperation between the two armies, and contribute to achieving regional stability and peace.

The first version: J-10 fighters and Chinese early warning aircraft on Egyptian territory

The first edition of “Eagles of Civilization” was held in the spring of 2025, starting on April 19 and continuing until early May at Wadi Abu Rish Air Base in Beni Suef Governorate, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Information Service. The Chinese Air Force participated at that time with J-10B/C fighters belonging to the 18th and 177th Air Brigades, in addition to a Y-20U air refueling aircraft and a KJ-500 early warning and air control aircraft, while Egypt participated with its MiG-29M/M2 fighters.

The new training comes amid growing military cooperation between Cairo and Beijing, and in light of repeated reports of Egyptian interest in the Chinese J-10C and J-35 fighters, but this interest has not yet turned into an official announcement of a deal, as the Chinese Ministry of Defense has previously denied reports of concluding a confirmed contract between the two sides.

The participation of Chinese fighters in the two Egyptian exercises gives the Egyptian Air Force the opportunity to learn practically about Chinese combat systems, at a time when it relies on a mixture of American F-16, Russian MiG-29, and French Rafale fighters, which makes diversifying its sources of armament an option in Cairo’s future calculations.

Cool, where are the weapons, the aircraft that we were talking about buying, where’s the pl15 missiles, the electronic warfare aircraft’s, the kj 700s, the equipment we were going after. I don’t care about training exercises any more, where’s the actual muscle and metal we were promised?

Coming soon.. but stop fu**ing asking.. the more you ask, the more they go secretive..

“coming soon”, every time there’s “news” about this deal going on there’s no clarification on the weapons/equipment constantly putting us on edge, so that leaves us in the dark. Training exercises are useless info and doesn’t help whatsoever, we’re way past that point and doesn’t confirm shit.

The most important are the J-16 and J-35 planes with the YU-20 tanker
And J 10 for joint manufacturing ..

At once a high-tech package, and Egypt will be sure that its air force will reach a high technological level.. with the Rafale with Meteor, reaching 100 fighters. The Air Force will be a match for anyone with a superior advantage.

The important thing is that Egypt gets J-16 D electronic warfare aircraft

KJ-500 early warning aircraft, or KJ 700, the latest version, and Y-9LG electronic warfare aircraft.

KJ-500 ensures the detection of all air and sea targets at very long distances using the fixed AESA radar.. as well It performs air command and control tasks (AWACS),

Y-9LG electronic warfare emits electronic jamming that blinds the enemy's radars, communications networks, and data supply chains.
It confuses air defense systems and makes it difficult to operate radar lock on friendly aircraft.

The result of the duo’s work together, providing a “protected working environment” that allows fighters to attack and penetrate defenses with complete freedom, while the command center (KJ-500) continues to manage the battle and uncover the entire theater without enemy devices being able to exploit the frequencies due to the Y-9LG’s jamming.

There are no J-35 in the EaglesOfCivilisation 2026 exercise, and J16/J16D's s are NOT for sale to Egypt, or anyone.... not "even" to the Egyptians.

And J 10 for joint manufacturing ..

Unlikely to happen unless Egypt's commits to units well over 100 for purchase ...

Anyway, what will the point be of local joint manufacturing for Egypt given that it has no aerospace industry involved in the design of new planes, or plans to do one etc.. Local
"joint" manufacturing seems like a waste of time and money for Egypt, that it could use to purchase new planes instead.

Even with all these in place, unless it can purchase the J-35AE, it will still be turkey shoot for the IDF IAF to take out the EAF with their proposed F-35 fleet.

As said above, J16D are NOT for sale to Egypt. Period. No matter how important Egyptians think they are to themselves..

KJ-500 early warning aircraft, or KJ 700, the latest version, and Y-9LG electronic warfare aircraft.

No actual news anywhere of any signed contracts by Egypt to purchase anything from China recently. No J10CE orders, no KJ-500 orders ( KJ- 700's are NOT on sale for export order yet to anyone )..

Yes - and you will see that in the exercises, but as yet it is capability that Egypt has not planned to purchase from China.

Yes - but how is this relevant to Egypt ?

Egypt as you don't know! is pretty advanced in the military field, be it electronics or EW and manufacturing from advanced tanks to training aircrafts including Chinese ones..not to forget any basic weapon for warfare that you can imagine..from bullets to guns up to advanced drones and EW..

The "thing"" is why China is sending the J-16 this time???

As you don't know for sure..Egypt never discloses its weapons's deals on the spot..it has always been 2 to 8 years time before seeing the product..

China also send the J16D to Pakistan for the Shaheen series of exercises. Just saying. It had nothing to do with export sales/etc.
