India eyes 14-fold jump in electronic component production by FY31: Report

(Don't miss the glorious seething of wiggers under the tweet)
Heavy reliance on agriculture and IT software servicing has brought India to this point. Certainly this next couple of years will see a shock to both sectors.

They do still have one major export left that they can and will fall back on - Indians.
I hear such funny takes since AI came into being (mostly hopium and copium) Meanwhile Indian IT firms are signing billion dollar deals left and right. For TCS alone this year they signed $1B with Porsche, $800 million with SKF, $600 mil with Tryg Norway. This is one firm then there is Wipro, HCL, Infosys et al who signed multibillion dollar deals.

Gabriel India forms JV with South Korea's HL Klemove for autonomous driving technology

Damn, Gabriel India and South Korea’s HL Klemove are basically bringing the whole ADAS electronics stack to India: radar, front cameras, LiDAR, automated driving and parking control units plus the software that runs them. They’ll also make brake and steering ECUs, chassis control units and torque sensors. This is pretty unusual for India’s auto-component industry.

This thread used to get "interesting posters" and "commentaries. Now it's all boring "x this, y that".

No fun. Doomsday only in theaters?

Samvardhana Motherson International is currently the only Indian automotive component company in the global Top 15. Being Top 15 globally is particularly impressive because the companies ahead of Motherson include long-established giants such as Bosch, Denso, CATL, Hyundai Mobis, Magna, ZF, Aisin, FORVIA, Continental, and Lear.

  • First Indian facility capable of manufacturing edge-to-edge single-piece long lighting assemblies.
  • Localized production of India's slimmest LED headlamp module (17 mm).
  • First Indian production of single-piece end-to-end Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and Rear Combination Lamps (RCLs).
  • Equipped with 2,000-tonne to 2,700-tonne multi-colour injection moulding machines for complex lighting components

In February 2026, Motherson announced a new greenfield plant in Pune, Maharashtra, through its vision systems business in partnership with Marelli. Pune facility will produce advanced automotive vision products:
Yutaka specializes in automotive exhaust systems, torque converters, brake systems,
Drivetrain components, Engine components and precision motor core components.
This acquisition gives Motherson deeper integration into Honda's global supply chain, greater access to Japanese engineering and precision manufacturing.

The discussion has become less “interesting” because many of the things that were once dismissed as hype or trolling are now becoming established facts. India’s economic growth is broadly accepted, billions of dollars in FDI are no longer headline news, exports are approaching the $1 trillion mark, and defence exports have reached 4.6 billion dollar a level that is increasingly significant in the security context of China and Pakistan.

When a trend becomes firmly established, there is simply less room for the old arguments about whether it is happening at all. The debate naturally shifts from “Is India actually developing?” to “How far can India take it, and what does it mean strategically?”

Maybe that’s why the thread feels boring now—reality has taken away some of the space for trolling.
