You're here saying "Turkey doesn't have a pre-emptive strike plan". Are you going to tell me Turkey doesn't have plans at all? Maybe you don't even have an army?

This is why Ottoman rulers used titles like Kayser‑i Rum, meaning Caesar of Rome, and why the lands of Anatolia were consistently referred to as Rum.

The Seljuks before them followed the same pattern. Their state was literally called the Sultanate of Rum, and many scholars, poets, and officials of the time were known as Rumi, meaning from the Roman lands. When the Eastern Roman Empire fell in the 1400s, there was no modern Greek national identity. So the historical picture is straightforward -- Ottomans and Seljuks saw themselves as Roman inheritors, Rum was the dominant identity in Anatolia, and the modern Greek identity emerged centuries later under Western influence and became a unifying label for diverse Orthodox communities.
