I normally don't back up Raptor because he clings to only one side of the equation. In this case, I'll make an exception.Economic fringe," my foot! It’s the world’s fourth-largest economy. On top of that, it’s technologically ahead of the U.S. in most weapons systems. And it’s managed all this despite having a smaller economy, all while recovering from the collapse that followed the breakup of the USSR. See what’s going on here, Big Gazza?![]()

Fail-22cRaptor has zero actual geopolitical or geoeconomic understanding of our complex world, and simply chooses to believe in US exceptionalism as though this is a team sport, a bit like chugging beers while watching NASCAR. Anyone who repeats McCains absurd nonsense of "gas station masquerading as a nation" is exhibiting a childs view of the world and probably has no actual understanding of the difference between Nominal GDP or GDP by PPP. Or the difference between Industrial Capitalism (todays Russia, yesterdays USA) and Financial Capitalism (current day USA). Or how the defining characteristics of how Globalism and Neoliberalism are implemented in the West by our corrupt greedy elites.
Whatever. I'm not here to educate children, I'm only interested in challenging stupid PROPANGANDA and idiotic LIES.
We’re having quite a laugh here, Biggazza![]()
Russia has enormous natural wealth and a very large and well developed industrial economy. Unlike the West however they don't have an economy optimised to inflate raw numbers based on speculative financial churn. I'd rather have a real world economy that clothes, feeds, educates, etc its population than a random-number generator that makes 1s & 0s and grossly enriches a corrupt ruling class. Russia is no utopia, and has plenty of her own problems (inequality is far too high, a lasting legacy of the Oligarchy of the 90s) but claims Russia is economically small and backward are just demented. Her enemies are jealous clowns that are obsessed with raining on her parade.
It might be of interest to you that I know some folks over there right now. Air raid warnings in Kiev are a real thing. Scrambling of GPS systems is a real thing. Taking shelter every time the warning sirens go off is a real thing. In 6 months Russia will be approaching 2,000,000 dead and wounded. Russian progress on the front is minimal. The Russian homeland is getting smashed by Ukr drones and missiles almost daily. Don’t know what you’re laughing about because this is a disastrous war for Russia and strategic defeat that will reverberate for decades.
Debating people who hold opposing views can be a form of entertainment in itself, if one approaches it with a correct mindset.Whatever. I'm not here to educate children, I'm only interested in challenging stupid PROPANGANDA and idiotic LIES.

With all due respect, nominal GDP is poor tool that simply doesn't provide a reliable basis for comparison of national economic outputs. PPP is a far more reliable measure (but still far from perfect). National comparisons accouding to the World Bank as as follows (quick Google search):I normally don't back up Raptor because he clings to only one side of the equation. Thats the conventional wisdom and the idea upon which the Western sanctions plot as based - boycott Russian energy and commodities and their economy will implode and the Ruble will collapse. It FAILED miserably, yet people still keep repeating the absurd shibboleth, as though somehow the rest of the planet of 7B+ people don't want to buy oil, gas, fertiliser, minerals, wheat, uranium, etc....Russia is dependent on European market to sell its natural resources. Thats what pretty much this war is about.
