The deal will see state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited manufacture 73 LCA MK1A Tejas fighter versions and 10 trainers versions.
www.defensenews.com
The unit cost of Tejas mark 1a is said to be around 42 million dollars each
For 83 planes that equates to less than 4 billion dollars
Yet the total deal is costing over 6 billion dollars .
,@ Yasser this extra 2 billion dollars partially includes assembly plants
machines jigs other Infrastructure technicians laboratory work ....etc
You do not spend billions on new
infrastructure until orders are confirmed
With the second pending order of 97 planes in mark 1a I expect less fixed costs as the infrastructure is in place already so I also expect faster deliveries of second batchm
Imo the air force will get 180 new Aesa equipped fighters in 8 to 10 years max
That's 18 fighters a year but it will. Snow ball to max 32 fighters by end of this decade as Indian manufacturers really get to grips with indengious fighter production rates
IE from 6 to 10 to 12 then 16 then 24 finally 32...planes per year delivered
