Yes,it certainly was no argument there.
However one could look at it as a political experiment that needed to be performed,first to see whether it was possible for iran and the west to be able to agree to long term political deals and for these deals to hold.
Secondly it was also important to demonstrate to the whole nation whether the pro western neo liberal reformist camp were right in seeking greater engagement with the west and that the cost of the various concessions that iran would have to make would ultimately be worth it economically.
Ultimately the results of the experiment was a resounding NO on both counts.

by comparison, inflation in Turkey is currently c. 70%

but to be clear, 25% is still very very high inflation. if I remember correctly, only around 2015-2017 during Rouhani did inflation in Iran approach single digits (<10%)
