I remember watching a documentary where they explained that the Turks were initially neutral in WW1 but only joined Germany after Britain commandeered two ships that they were building for Turkey. The Brits were desperate for ships in wartime.

Of course the story of why the Turkish Empire could not build their own ships and had to go to Britain is a sad story of decline in and of itself.

You dont start a war over 2 commandered ships... there would have been alot lot lot more to it before you take part in a war ...
