HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

Rafales are excellent aircraft, which is why India is willing to pay $300 million per unit. Rafale and Eurofighter were shortlisted by the IAF in the Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) competition after a thorough evaluation.
Indian Air Force rejected F-16, calling it obsolete and outdated in the same MMRCA competition. Despite being the cheapest fighter jet in the MMRCA, F-16 was the first to be dropped.
Grapes are sour.... For sure.
F-16 would have been Indian's first choice, without any doubt, had there F-16 not been used by a "certain nation" flying them for 40 years.
40 years of experience is a lot of edge even with older generation jets.

ansolutely not. In 2009 itself it was concluded that the airframe had outlived efficiencies and nothing less than a complete redesign can keep it relevant for the future. You keep it.

So again diverting to a totally irrelevant issue instead of admitting the BS you posted and I replied to?

I never stated whether India is better than France or whether the Rafale is less capable than the Tejas. I only mentioned that GaN radar is far superior to GaAs and that only a few countries have perfected this technology for use in fighter jet radars.

And Why should India import a 60 year old aircraft like the F-16 when the Tejas MK2 will enter production in 2030? In fact, if France doesn’t agree to technology transfer, India shouldn’t buy 114 Rafales, which will cost $40-50 billion. This is a very large amount of money, more than the defense budget of France.

The F-16 is not a modern 4th generation fighter jet, Gripen could have won the tender it’s a modern 4th generation fighter but, for India, buying a single-engine 4th generation jet from abroad no longer makes sense because the delivery of the Tejas MK1A has already started, and the Tejas MK2 will begin production in 2030.

So you think F-16, block 70/72 is not a "modern" 4th generation jet??
That shows the amount of knowledge and intellect usual you have while talking on this forum 🙄🙄🙄.
Please don't embarrass your fellow country men. Please.

F-16 cannot be as modern as Gripen or Tejas due to its design limitations. Modern avionics are more compatible with contemporary designs.
MiG-21 can be modified and fitted with modern avionics, but this wouldn't make it as capable as the Gripen or Tejas because the MiG-21's design is outdated.

Again it shoes your level of ignorance and bias.
You are just saying this because PAF uses F-16, otherwise deep down you know you are just saying mixed up bullshit.
And you know nothing about Jet designs. Come out of the rock you are living in.

Both the Indian and Chinese air forces used the MiG-21 in the past. The J-7, used by the Pakistani Air Force, is also MiG-21. Both India and China operate the Su-30. Pakistan has the Mirage III and IV, while India uses the Mirage 2000. There are many examples worldwide where opposing countries operate the same types of weapons.

Why would we want to but f16 even in latest f 21 configuration from an unreliable supplier?? They can regulate or even cut the supply of spare parts any time they want
You made that mistake yourself

Don't you think the f16's airframe is a bit old?
I mean I think when we compare it to the rafale / eurofighter / gripen???

F 16 maybe the best designed airframe and well ahead in every way but still I would pick a rafale over it everytime!

You have a usual habit of not addressing the real issue you started yourself and kept drifting away to new stuff.
I don't know what but in medical world this must be some kind of "_____ syndrome".

I am not denying it but how come Tejas is superior design than F-16.
Your fellow poster was again babbling same old shit that Tejas design was out of this world.
If it only comes to design then Tejas has nothing to offer anything superior than F-16.
And if it comes to avionics and ammo of latest F-16 then again there is no comparison.
I am not talking about typhoon, Gripen (latest Gripen is not better than latest F-16) Rafale. The guy said F-16 was outdated frame so India did not buy.

Nie that is some sort of real argument, instead of just forcing words to someone's mouth that F-16 is not advanced, when "in its category" the 70/72 block is most advance jet. Only J10C is comparable "in same class".
And no, GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES " we did not make any mistake when we initially bought it. This has been discussed in very detail in old PDF forum (may be addressed a bit in this also).
Yes USA is very unreliable.
Just when we got a real alternative we moved to J-10C.
