The indisputable truth is India was completely dominated by soviet suppliers and Pakistan by the west in that period, so ok you were able to assert a position of independence more forcefully at times, that's something

But you were restricted by structural global realities on many fronts, I don't see how you can deny that

We have HDW submarines delivered from Germany in 1984. Around the same time we purchased Mirage 2000 from the French. We got an aircraft carrier from the UK in 1961. These are all big ticket purchases.

That is one point I have denied

That is one point I agree with

That is the other point I have denied. And I have given 3 examples where we purchased big ticket weapons from the west.

Also when we purchased Mig-21 , we also evaluated the British Lightning in 1962. The Russians offered ToT, purchase in Indian rupees and assembly and later manufacturing in India to tilt the balance in their favour.

In 1982 when we purchased the T-72, we also evaluated the French AMX-40 and the British Chieftain 800 and Challenger 1.

So the purchases we made from the Soviets were not because we had any problems with the west or the west had any problems with us. There were financial, technical and ToT considerations.

Yet you still had majority soviet across all armed forces, your examples don't disprove anything other than you didn't have a 100% soviet military, I don't even need to know what they were, you can't escape your military was Soviet dominant

You therefore were pushed into the other market

No one lets one country capture across military unless reluctantly
