PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

Yes, but we are now almost full circle ... my argument is, China will never export the J-35A with the WS-19 soo - maybe the one with WS-21 sooner - but any such non-sense "we will get it in 2025" and even more "we only except a variant on par or even better than the PLAAF variant" are just BS!
The WS19 level is not that high. This is a medium-sized engine of the F414 level, and it is impossible not to export it. This only depends on the mature speed of the WS19,The Chinese are businessmen. As long as China has the next generation of engines, let alone the ws19 and ws15, they can sell them. It only depends on the speed at which China develops the next generation of fighter engines,Prioritize meeting the needs of China's local military forces

Is there a difference between "downgraded" and "customized"?

Nope.

WS-19 is a different generation and is a true 5th generation engine.

WS-21 is F414 level.

China will export it anyway as no country has any bar to latest engine exports as you do not really learn much from capturing a damaged or destroyed engine anyway.

I tend to estimate conservatively. Currently, there are excellent medium-sized engines such as gef414, ej200, etc., while f119 and f135 are all heavy-duty engines, which are differentfm_173&fmt_auto&h_556&img_JPEG_&s_882881185B2E4E88285D38D9030010B0&u_2197155431_4278775720&w_...jpeg

only ws-15 is not exportable imo until china develops something better.

WS-19 was designed and built using technologies from WS-15.

Let us not be conservative here as WS-19 is a true 5th generation engine that will allow PLAAN fighters to dominate the USN F-35C and even take on USAF F-22 in air supremacy missions.

It will probably be a while before China exports J-35s with the WS-19 engines, I mean WS-15 supposedly went into mass production last year, but how many J-20s have we seen with it? Unless they've been purposely hiding the ones with it from being seen by the public like they sort of did with the J-15B/Ts.

J-20 is equipped with ws-15 and ws-10 variants.

I know, but the claim by the fan-.boys was "we won't accept anything downgraded" aka a variant with the older WS-21 since we only want and only get the best of the best!

That it will be "customized" variant is clear, but still ... if Pakistan wants it soon then IMO they won't get it with the WS-19 since that engine is IMO too new to be exported and not ready yet and if they want a customized high end version, then it won't come soon!

I think first Sqd should just be with any engine they can get their hands on, hopefully the plumbing will allow the Chinese to reengine the plane at a later date. WS-21 is fine, especially for near/medium term (next 10-15 years) as thankfully we are facing an 4th gen enemy

Tempest is 10 years away and there is only a small chance India will order it. The word "Monster" doing a lot of heavy lifting here, especially as the whole project could be under thej chopping block with a new UK Government

Tempest will not be chopped. There is too much for UK aerospace industry riding on it for them to even think of cancelling.
