JF-17 PFX program

Oh, rubbish. PAF is proving itself worse than a fanbody. They're bullshitting, and they're so bad at it that they're not even consistent with the design they're advertising at IDEAS. The following two PFX designs in their official advertisement are radically different.

The first one actually resembles the Project Azm fighter

My beef is that PAF officer calling the PFX a generation ahead of the Thunder meaning to the common man looking at the report the Thunder will then be a third generation fighter

Becharon pe reham karain. The first design is one of the Azm designs. They've hired so many people to fill the buildings in NASTP that they built because:
1. Great real-estate project
2. Great jobs for retired PAF babus.
So they have to look busy. Reminds me of

They're doing something to look busy in the hopes something will stick - if it doesn't, it doesn't matter. It's not like they have to make a profit. They are giving free jobs from our tax and IMF loans that we need to repay.

I think this a case of dogshit pr more than anything this is true across our defense industry atleast gids seems to be improving.

Oh rubbish?! I already clearly stated that they are showing various designs with no indication of / if anything finalised so perhaps more prudent to talk about what the PAF official specifically said as opposed to getting hung up on the graphics. Which part of that are u finding ‘rubbish’?
We have no explanation for why different designs are shown, maybe various under consideration? That makes PAF ‘worse than Fanboy’ can I smell butthurt Indians?

Yeah they did the same with JF-17 no? But somehow turned out quite well? Much better / faster into service / on time and useful than a certain unnamed peer? I’m not defending the political crap or corruption but let’s not through the baby out with the bathwater.

Firstly, JF-17 is less a comparison of Pak vs India and more a comparison of China+Pakistan vs India so that comparison with Tejas is unfair.

The JF-17 was primarily developed by China using user input and some engineering manpower provided by PAF. Then China transferred a factory to produce some parts for it at PAC. Huge complexes all over Pakistan staffed by hundreds and thousands of engineers and retired PAF babbus twiddling their thumbs were not created. Only AMF was extended at PAC.

In the late 90s, early 2000s, China was a different country, much more willing to do all of this for us. You will find no such favors from China anymore. Furthermore, China has been explicitly removed from PFX slides - precisely because of the reason that I just mentioned.

So no, this is nothing like the JF-17 program.

I respect your views, I’m entitled to mine. Certainly Don’t dispute that JF-17 was developed by China for PAF. Despite That I remember being repeatedly, unequivocally told on threads just like this that JF-17 will never fly in PAF colours, Russia will never release the engine etc etc Rest is history. I disagree that China has changed to the point of no longer being interested in doing favours for Pakistan and whether they are mentioned or not, believe they will be critical to any success of the PFX. We can have our views, Time will tell.

All you gotta say bro is “Fake it till you make it”

It’s safe to assume that this is PFX program.l and not the other fancy airframes?

Or is this a totally separate program to upgrade existing JF-17’s like a MLU? None of these slides state ‘PFX’?
Let’s hope someone can go there and clarify it. This has created more confusion than clarity.

As an aerospace engineer I am impressed at the key components of their aircraft: they will have an AESA radar and wait for it......a leading-edge flap
I was like, what are they trying to highlight.

Something that was China’s portion of work share and now will be done at PAC?

I think they’re adding on what was not there before for better high alpha -or just doing it in house
