BNP comprises of two ideological forces moving in parallel direction. One is trying to overshadowed the other.

1-Secularist Indian leaning forces led by likes of Mirza Faqrul. Mostly from left ideology.
2-Bd Islamic nationalist led by Tarique Zia. Mostly from old Muslims league and there descendants.

Secular forces are trying to delay the retun of Tarique Zia in Bd. They rather keep hlm aboard as long as possible.

National forces need to dominate the party's policy making decisions otherwise BNP will find itself in a very difficult situation.

A lot of folks have been saying this. Fukhrul has been struggling for the party for 15 years of AL rule. It would be difficult to remove him.

Agree. The secular group within BNP is exactly the same as BAL. Subservient to India.

Tareque is not making a scene and removing Fakhrul yet because he wants to return home after getting his charges dropped. But the longer he delays, the more damage it will cause to BNP.

See that's the thing. He barely led any strong opposition protest. That protest after that Eid never came. Instead we saw students and Hefajot stage the most significant protests.

He sure fits the role of being set in that role to appear to have struggled, but in reality he was sitting comfortably doing nothing.

Compare it to Jamaat leadership - their entire leadership got decimated. Jailed and killed. Low level leaders were hunted down by police and DGFI.

Even within BNP the pro Islamists like Saqa Chowdhury and Babar suffered. One executed and the other awaiting execution.

Fakhrul and his co didn't really suffer at all, even though it was made to appear so from outside.

Why would I tag you? I tagged no one and I personally dislike you.

I rather think that Fakhrul is not acting independently from Tareque and that they are actually working in coordination. Fakhrul presents one face while Tareque the other. It has been long suspected that Tareque has maintained links with RAW while in London especially one Amit Mathur who was once the RAW station chief in Dhaka and Islamabad and is now an advisor to Amit Shah and is often relied upon for advice by Ajit Doval.
