Rumors have it that the HTS is negotiating with with SDF and SNA for a power sharing deal that could see the end of the war and an unofficial splitting of the country on a permanent basis in the form of a federation, but bringing peace to the country and some sort of national unity.

I doubt it though.

Personally, I think only phase one of the war has ended. I think HTS, SNA, and SDF are now likely to fight each other. The civil war, in my opinion, is far from over.

The SDF will not accept a democratic election. The Kurdish population in Syria is very small, the vote will not exceed 15 percent.

Allowing the creating of a fully independent Kurdish State with the blessings and help of the US and Israel,isn't something good for Turkey's interests.

The Turks could have let the SAA and SDF compete for control and let them stay divided.
Also,starting a second round of war won't exactly help you with refugees. Some might return,but a lot might be leaving for Turkey again.

Plus,destroying the stability of a neighboring country,doesn't always work in your favor. Especially when there's a gazillion armed groups and factions with their own agendas.

Man if you see At-Tanf from Google Earth,it has nothing. It's a huge desert with the biggest "towns" at the size of settlements and factories. Where the heck did all these rebels live? I guess they lived in Jordan and just had outposts there.
