Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

All credible sources confirmed It is not a fighter bomber.

So it may not be the actual selected 6th generation fighter but one of two prototypes that are in competition between Chengdu and Shenyang.

This is super exciting and cannot wait to see the other one if that is the case.

it may not even be the final version, possibly sixth gen is a whole package not just a single aircraft. no one at this point knows the exact standard to be honest.

By the way, do we have a hint on its designation? If I remember correctly, then designation J-20 was revealed quite early! 🤔

Not sure what J-designation it will be given but the “6th Gen prototype” at Zhuhai was called Baidi: white emperor.

If we take the 10 strokes it takes to write that and add it to the J-20, could calling the new plane J-30 (as in plane for the 2030s make sense?)

Please do not mention “Bai Di” in a real discussion of military equipment!
We have explained this in detail numerous times in the PDF. “Bai Di” is a science fiction IP, it is not a real military equipment research topic!

Baidi is fake plane from a novel... nothing to do with 6gen at all..

Now everybody is saying SAC has flown it's version, so this maybe the one.

probably not today, since it's already very dark in the north.
shenyang flew today as well, quote

"
Shenhua hinted that Shenyang 6gen also completed its first flight:eek:
Ayi didn't know if it was a joke, but reposted that Xi'an had also done it. "

I know it’s a fake plane, I was taking about the designation may come from the plane being for the 2030s, and the 10 strokes added to the J-20 designation could lead to J-30.

Currently there is nothing out there on the designation, so I’m just trying to put together a reasonable guess based what is out there in any way related to 6th gen from official Chinese talk about the topic.

unlikely, I saw the video weeks ago, doesn't look like a jet, maybe a small model plane.
The daylight is just too short in the North, it's too dark for people to take anything, dammit.

From AMRaad. A shot of the plane over the shoulder of a Chinese construction worker, kind of poetic.

Btw, this is less than 14 years since the “first” flight of the J-20. Chinese tech is advancing quickly.

I see FB-22 vibes here - which is fine because super maneuverable requirements are less prevalent than penetration.

The pace of development comes from a digital first approach which started with JF-17.
