Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

unlikely because the difficulties of the program is on a different level, I don't see any possibility before 2032, even the airforce itself has so much things to upgrade before they can started learning the new aircraft.

I would not be surprised if the full spectrum of aircraft and systems is not ready till the mid-2030s.

China would not want to at all rush 6th generation for some bragging rights.

IMO CAC's design is slated to replace J-20 and SAC's design is slated to replace J-35. CAC's design seems quite a bit bigger than SAC's design.

In terms of electronics it's about the same. Also, it lacks DSI which J-10 and J-20 have.
No, it electronics will not be the same as j20 and j10, it will have new weapons, engines (Variable cycle engine) and probably DIRECTED ENERGY WEAPONS, need new electronics and software to control VCE engine/ New weapons and directed energy weapon, so you're wrong its electronics will not be based on J-10/J-20 electronics

Some respected Chinese members like @Michael CAC design aka J-36 is not a Air Superiority jet but more like a striker and regional bomber with STEALTH capability whereas some Chinese members are saying about SAC design is intended for UNMANNED operation (a drone/ LOYAL WINGMAN) type of concept
J-36 would definitely be carrying PL-17 for hunting high value enemy aircraft as the missile can not fit into the weapon bay of SAC model, and to be honest we should looked at these sixth gen as a whole instead of thinking each model are on their own, J36 is definitely getting it's wingman too, maybe they are using the same Shenyang model or maybe CAC would come up with one of their own.

Not replacement of J-20/J-35 but complementary, J-36 aka CAC and J-XX aka SAC design will be extremely expensive to induct/ maintain/operate, i think 100-200 mix of these 6th gen jets accompanied by hundreds of J-20/J-35 will be the future of PLAAF

Some respected accounts on weibo was talking about J36 no cheaper than 200 million a pop, SAC one a bit cheaper, and I believed they have already invested 10-20 billion dollars so far to come up with the first prototype.
These things are like gold swallowing beast.

I'm watching these videos on YouTube, most of these videos suggest CAC design will have no to minimal agility/maneuverability because its size, with no TVC its least maneuverable than SAC design but you may be right it WILL BE PURE BVR JET WITH LEAST EMPHASIS ON MANEUVERABILITY AND AGILITY

it's quite obvious looking at it's design, some of the J-36 carrying only AAM, some of them carrying hypersonic anti ship, anti ground missile, along with wingman at the front, this is the likely scenario beyond second island chains without partners like SAC 6th gen, J20, J35.

will mainly carry BVR and not short range air to air missiles, because it will have no to minimal agility/maneuverability, if enemy will be able come close to the J-36 . it will have no defense against the short range enemy, then 5th gen jets will become handy to save 6th gen jets because of their high maneuverability/agility, it will be HIGH-LOW combo

6th gen fighter is central node of a system.Extreme large size w/ large wing area for long range
All aspect stealth in flywing design
Spacious interior for MW-level electric power system
Can fly at very high altitude & cruise at mach2.0+.Accompanying aircraft can range for drones like GJ-11, WZ-9 & MD-22.Controlling many UCAVs in MUMT requires significant data transmission & crunching.
Need to fuse data from all the surrounding assets to provide full view of adversarial assets
Then provide direction to UCAVs to conduct coordinated EW against adversaries to confuse their sensors.J-36 & MUMT need to be looked @ as complements to existing DF missiles.
The additional EW pressure they put on adversaries significantly increase hit probability & reduce interceptions.
By confusing defense on where the attacks are coming from & type of attacks. It puts pressure on all assets within 3000 km including Guam & carrier groups in 2IC.
Enhances & protects attacks from H-6K as well as DF missiles.
If carrier group is afraid to get within 1200nm of China, the battle is essentially won already.

with high altitude, high cruise speed and powerful soft, hardkill methods, It's definitely not like what a sitting duck bomber scenario and we have already seen the SAC wingman model, it's not what we have seen out there some individual high school amateur project but they are part of the sixth gen program from first day, air superiority combat design which indicate they have all these in mind from very beginning.
