Pakistan Turkey Defence Updates

I think it's also a question of 'back up'

Both countries have a historical connection, even though both country's today are very different i think they have come to a understanding that when and if the 'shi-t hits the fan' they may require a reliable partner to support and supply them

Steps are being taken to support each other in that regard,
In fact s-hit is hanging from the fan....

Unless they receive some "jewel" technologies in return. Turkey does badly need some "jewel" technologies to thwart some clear present existential threats imposed upon them by the "usual suspects"....

Actually China is much more generous on TOT than Turkey for critical technologies

Despite so the story might be different when it comes to Join Venture program where the defense product is developed together like in case for medium tank development between Indonesian Pindad and FNSS Turkey.

But when it comes only as buyer, the TOT will be not really significant, mostly on assembling and maintenance capability

I dont think so, Indonesia buy lot of Turkish defense lately, but based on our respected Industry analist and also former Jane Defense representatif for Indonesia that has insider information. Turkey transfer of technology does not included critical technology.

No one will give away their jewel technologies

buying a lot of products & being a strategic partner are 2 different things. besides no one is claiming that any core tech will be transferred.

ISLAMABAD: The seventh meeting of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) is set to take place in Islamabad next month.

Although official dates have yet to be announced, the meeting is tentatively planned for Feb 12 and 13.

The HLSCC, which serves as the primary mechanism for steering bilateral cooperation, is co-chaired by the prime minister of Pakistan and the president of Turkiye.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, is expected to visit Pakistan for the session.

The council, originally established in 2009 to implement the Strategic Economic Framework (SEF) agreed upon by the two countries, was renamed in 2013 during its third session to reflect the strategic nature of the relationship.

The sixth session was held in February 2020, and the seventh meeting, initially planned for 2022, was delayed.

The upcoming HLSCC session will focus on strengthening defence and security collaboration, enhancing trade, boosting economic cooperation, and deepening cultural ties between the two countries.

In a preparatory meeting held on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reviewed progress on the Strategic Economic Framework 2020-24 and discussed recent initiatives to bolster bilateral ties.

“The meeting was aimed at preparing a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.

“It explored new proposals to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries and forms part of the preparations for the seventh session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council to be held in Islamabad.”

Not until there's a random Su-35 or MiG-35 order.
dont put it past them!

Jokes aside, it is a dream of mine for Pak and the ME countries +maybe Turkey to setup a joint air warfare training centre, with aircraft from Russia, US, Europe etc for DACT. Imagine that, Flankers, Fulcrums, Mirages, Falcons and Eagles all at a base, purely setup for DACT 🤤

Surprised Shaheen Foundation et.al didn't set up a contracted Air Training Services company yet. They could leverage ex-PAF F-7P/PGs and Mirage III/5s as well as buy surplus M2Ks, MiG-29s, Su-30s, etc.

Yeah, using the Mirages and F-7s, equipped with a low cost version of our local AESA could be a great AD Air platform- heck, even use ZDK's in the mix, could put those airframes to some actual use and provide proper in depth ad air
