Pakistan Turkey Defence Updates

Pak and Turkiye reportedly discussed a possible joint helicopter project (@JamD don't play that Azeri song).

No details given re: type, but I suspect it's the T625 and T629. TEI's TS1400 will be certified in 2026, so I guess Turkiye thinks a program with Pak is now viable.

Also telling that the PAA hasn't moved on a single off-the-shelf platform for attack or utility yet. Possible that exchanges on this were happening since the block on T129.

IMO a T625/629 combo similar to India's Dhruv/LCH could be the way to go for the bulk of the PAA's needs.

yeah the news came out at 8th Joint working group meeting. The news came regarding joint production of KAAN and T929 attack helicopter. T625 is I believe an unmanned variant of t929?

Awesome if true.

Is this the reason we didnot purchased more Z10 ME from china for long term🤔.

If the news are true, it means...

- Pakistan is poised to become a long-term industrial Tier 1 Partner of Türkiye.

- The Pakistani industrial sector will contribute to the program's sustainability for decades.

- The production of components, final assembly of aircraft, and regional support and maintenance operations will be conducted in Pakistan.

- This will generate a consistent revenue stream for the Pakistani Military-Industrial Complex.

- I see potential for collaboration on future helicopter initiatives.

- A substantial transfer of expertise to Pakistan is anticipated, particularly in the establishment, maintenance, and strategic planning of modern industrial facilities and infrastructure related to research and development activities.

- This could serve as a catalyst for developing a comprehensive ecosystem in Pakistan, enabling the nation to meet its requirements independently of international partners.

- Economies of scale effect. Cheaper aircrafts for Pakistan and Türkiye.

- There is an increased motivation for other countries to choose our product, as doing so would mean receiving the goodwill of two significant nations in the region.

- Türkiye and Pakistan have similar needs and requirements creating a smoother work process.

Why not try to renegotiate with America over the engines for T-129 ATAK ?

Agree !!! They are perfect partners right now. Pakistan wants high technology to build her local industry through knowledge transfer and is willing to be a large buying customer for that. Turkey wants customers who will buy big and also can help keep costs of her products lower due to lower Pakistani labour costs.

@Quwa @JamD

Well, Baykar has bought Piaggio Aerospace. This is going to be interesting. I wonder what the goal was behind this buy. Most of their offerings revolve around the p180 and then engine component production and MRO. They produce components for the F135 and also other engines.
It makes Baykar an EU company as per the Turkish analysts. Therefore, Baykar can introduce new products and re-package the existing ones as per the EU/NATO needs. R&D and production at the heart of EU/NATO gives it an edge over operating solely from Turkey due to some historical baggage. Thanks to Putin and Trump the top EU countries are now facing existential challenges....

From a long-term and strategic perspective, having a strong defense industry in Pakistan would ease Turkey's position globally. Having two strong countries supporting each other in every field worldwide would make things easier.

I absolutely agree with you. Just look at the multitude of agreements, cost sharing initiatives, mutual participation, collaboration and joint efforts in Western and Northern Europe. They even merge their national companies to create synergies and global champions. It's really a win-win situation.

You know I am going to be that guy. The timing of your post is very meaningful to me since the Pak-Turk JWG is this week. And I have seen MoUs and promises for the past 10 JWGs, every 6 months. This helicopter discussion has also been going on for a long time. Local production of Gokbey was offered at one point. Unfortunately, none of these obviously went anywhere because our side only wakes up every 6 months for these meetings. I don't expect this time to be any different. But I can always be happily proven wrong.
