There is a war of attrition going on. And judging by Trump's actions, the Americans were the first to go down. Now the Europeans will have a few months of rest, and then they'll give up too. So even with a powerful economy and the most modern weapons, you can lose a war. This is openly recognised in Europe. That's why your arguments have zero weight.
As soon as their is a ceasefire, Russia will start building up naval assets in the black sea and will ensure that neither NATO nor Ukraine has naval assets of note anywhere near it
What do you mean? The Black Sea Fleet has seen lots of promotions. To submarine.Talk about cope, the Russian Black Sea Fleet has been utterly humiliated in this war. They’re nowhere to be found these days outside their ports in Russia.
2008 Nato declared Ukraine and Georgia would become Nato members one day
2014 Ukraine ended non aligned status
2017 Ukraine amended its constitution to join Nato
2021 Nato confirmed Ukraine will join one day.
Joining Nato has been a goal for over a decade.
The upper hand I referred to overall not only in the context of blacksea.
Russia is winning the war, they hold 20% of Ukraine, Nato membership is so far off it cant be seen. Russian depty foreign minister just said yesterday all of putins terms he mentioned last year must be met, this isn't a country despite the death and destruction in a rush to end the war.
Given this thread is 1615 pages long as of this post, was there or has there been any discussion around Russia's violation of the Budapest Memorandums as well as the Minsk Agreements?Russia has long since lost this war and it’s all been downhill since Hostomel. 783,000 dead and wounded. 20,000+ equipment losses. That 20% of Ukraine is now mostly destroyed by war, its working population long gone. It’s worthless land. Russia has failed in all its strategic objectives. Taking the Donbass is irrelevant because it doesn’t change the strategic outcomes of the war. Russia has lost and it’s time to come to terms with that.
Ukraine is a de facto Western aligned state now. Whether they join NATO or not is irrelevant. They’ll trade with the West, purchase weapons from the West, and host Western forces. Russia has ruined relations with Ukraine for generations.
I'm going to call it a draw for now.
Let's both remember the Ukes were trained primarily on Soviet systems. Introduction to the Abrams, Bradleys, etc. has been relatively recent. You don't go from a T-80 to an Abrams overnight nor do you go from a MiG to an F-16 immediately. Just like I wouldn't go immediately from my M-16 to an L85. And, to make things worse from a logistics perspective, the Ukes now need to maintain a supply chain for Abrams, Bradleys, Challengers, Leopards, etc. What a mess.
Put American crews in those same tanks and IFVs, it would be a remake of 23 Easting IMO.
In addition, the Russians have had 3+ years to dig in. So I am not terribly surprised the Ukes have been having a tough go of it and are changing their tactics to accommodate.
The other thing, which I have pointed out repeatedly on the other forum, is we're providing Ukraine just enough fast enough to die slower.
Ukraine has manpower issues, not weapons issues. And weapons deliveries cannot make up fort lack of manpower. The West cant do anything about it except sending its own soldiers, which wouldnt be supported by the population and would risk significant escalation. In my opinion, nothing will change from the current trajectory, a slow Russian advance with minor Ukrainian counter attacks, until Ukraine breaks, which will come after Ukraine has exhausted the 18-25 years old males.
I agree, which I have stated before on the other forum. This is a numbers game. The Russians have more.Ukraine has manpower issues, not weapons issues. In a way, you're on the right path. Over the course of the last 4 years, the majority of the 10M-14M illegals to enter the US are males of fighting age. Here's a perfect opportunity for them to earn citizenship. Why not hire mercs? The US has millions of unemployed or underpaid men who are willing to work as mercs.

The Russians are Not the Taliban , Syrians, or Libyan’s. They are an extremely capable fighting machine. They are the last army you want to be up against and no amount of monies you offer foreign Mercenaries will tempt them to enter this war!
