Lebanon-Israel War | 2023-present

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri:

The Americans informed me that the Israeli occupation will withdraw on February 18 but will remain in 5 points, and I informed them that this is rejected in my name and in the name of the Lebanese presidency and government.

If the occupation remains, this is the responsibility of the Lebanese state and the army will perform its full duty in the south of the Litani.

That is exactly why Hezbollah is so constrained domestically since it doesn't control the government or have a majority within Lebanon. The root cause is that the residents of the south feel neglected by the central government and had to form their own militias to resist Israeli occupation from 1978 when the state failed to do so. That's why they feel like they need Hezbollah and Hezbollah has legitimacy as an indigenous group formed to resist foreign occupation of the south.

Ok, so why were they abandoned by Hezbollah? That ceasefire deadline ended and now Israelis are saying they will stay permanently. Now the ball is in Hezbollah's court to help and provide for its constituency b/c the Lebanese Army are impotent.

We are going round in circles. I have not seen any Shia Lebanese people complaining they have been abandoned, only you are keen to promote this narrative even though I keep explaining how your view is fundamentally ignorant and incorrect.

Lebanese state cancels flight from Iran to Lebanon carrying Shia pilgrims under pressure from USA, leaving Lebanese pilgrims stuck in Tehran

In response, Lebanese protestors have amassed in Beirut and have blocked the sole road to Beirut airport by burning tires, pledging that no one will be allowed to access the airport until the Lebanese state allows their pilgrims to return from Iran.

The pilgrims stuck in Iran have also complained that no one from the Lebanese state has reached out to offer them any alternative solutions, and they cannot afford to buy alternative flights to other countries. Iran has given the abandoned Lebanese citizens hotel rooms in the interim.

As usual, the Lebanese state bows to the US and abandons its own people.

@Waz @Musings didn't we have a policy that people are not allowed to troll by intentionally using different versions of a group's name?

I don't think our Tork friends would be happy if Iranians went to the Tork section and started changing the names of their country and leaders to mock and troll them.

You called Turks Torks, now you are complaining? Iol

Tork is the Persian word for Turk(s). Are you a child that retaliates instead of reporting posts you believe break the rules?

You are using it as a negative slur, not writing in Farsi. It has a history of being used a a Slur.

"Tork" is widely used in the Iranian language to refer to Turks, including Iranians of Turkish background. It can be used as a slur if combined with other words (e.g., "Tork-e Khar" = Turkish donkey) but "Tork" alone is not a slur.

Regardless, this is off topic and my request for clarification on the intention misuse of official names (which have no basis in any language, such as your use of "Bollah" to refer to Hezbollah in an intentional attempt to troll) remains valid.

When you are using it in a negative connotation, and you only use it in a negative connotation, its being used a slur, then you pretend to be naïve. You are writing in english and then randomly dropping the persian pronunciation and then gaslighting like you just meant it like a normal word.

All slurs originate from common words that get turned into slurs.

Like calling someone a Haji. Thats a real term, but it gets used as a slur. Or Jap or Paaki.

One is a neutral and official Persian word ("Tork" = Turk in Persian) while the other is an intentionally distorted version of the official name ("Bollah" = nothing in any language). We can discuss the use of "Tork" further in the Turkish section if you please, but you should not continue to deviate from the topic here or try to deflect from my legitimate request for guidance with other issues.

Lebanese people continue to arrive at Beirut Airport to block access to the airport until the State lifts its ban on Lebanese pilgrims in Iran from returning to Lebanon

All roads leading to Beirut International Airport were closed in rejection of the Zionist orders, and more young men headed to the airport road.

Lebanon will not be Israeli.

Its not Neutral, Go ahead show a single comment of yours from the past where you have used Tork in a positive context.

Its clearly a Slur like Jap, haji or Paaki.

You like dishing it out, then go running to the police allegedly slights you in the least bit. If you are gonna calls turks "Torks" in an english conversation randomly, and usually in a negative connotation, then don't get so sensitive in other contexts.

Can we ban Torks as well. and just call Turks Turks in english.

It feels like its being used like Jap or Paaki.
"Tork" is simply the Persian word for Turks. Can we still use the Persian language in the Iranian section at least? Lol
