Yemen Civil War News and Discussion.. an evolving situation

IIRC, the Brits had a tough go of it as did you (the Saudis).

Personally, I hope we don't send troops in including Special Forces.
There was hardly any Saudi Arabian military presence in Northwestern Yemen other than special forces and conquered border towns on the Yemeni side. On the other hand it was not difficult to remove the Houthis from 50% of the other part of Yemen that they USED to control, Aden included. Northwestern Yemen is after all the heartland of the Zaydis.

This was a deliberate choice as it would be senseless (too many casualties) and not worth it. The Sudanese troops were the ones most actively engaged on that front. It is for the very same reason that USA/UK/Israel/others refuse to send troops on the ground.

Anyway it can be done, Arabs/Hejazis from modern-day KSA conquered Yemen on numerous occasions (during the Islamic conquests, in pre-Islamic times and post-Islamic times as well), First and Second Saudi states even ruled large areas of Yemen. Not to mention that there was a Saudi-Yemeni war for Najran, Jazan and Asir that KSA won in 1934 with Yemeni claims on those provinces/lands ending permanently.

Have in mind that those areas where ruled by separate kingdoms, imamates, sultanates etc. In reality the division Southern KSA and Northern Yemen are a continuation of the same greater region. It is like the areas between the US and Mexico that during the Spanish Empire was inhabited by the same Mestizo/Spanish origin people mixed with local natives. The fixed borders came much later.

Anyway Yemen is an incredibly beautiful country with a very rich culture and some of the world's oldest civilizations. The architecture is unique worldwide and the cuisine is one of the best in the world and shares much in common with Saudi Arabian. Most Saudi Arabians and Yemenis have nothing but love towards each other even the Northern Yemenis (that we are closest to). Ironically Yemeni Jews are one of the largest ethnic groups in Israel proper and the fastest growing.

BTW I once visited a great Yemeni restaurant in Phoenix. You should give the food a try, I bet that you will not be disappointed.

US is the only one that can severely degrade their ship attacking capability with airpower alone. It's all about wanting to do it which Biden administration did not want to do.

You can hurt the hooties enough to make them stop they are not some zealot tard organization the leadership knows when it is time to knock it off they too like to be undead and control the masses.

Do you remember the name? According to Yelp, there are supposedly 10 in the PHX metro area.

When our datacenter was still in Scottsdale, we frequented The Persian Room. Reminded me of my days in Bahrain.

Well, for the sake of Yemen and global trade, I would like to believe that but I have my doubts. For starters it would need to continue for weeks at a time with intel on the ground. Otherwise I am afraid that it will be fruitless long-term at least. I recall similar air raids and attacks previously already.

Of course the Houthis on their own (despite being good fighters and having a real zeal + being almost permanently high on khat also helps), if you exclude the geographical element (their main ally here) are no match for the US (let alone KSA) but given how embedded they are in Northwestern Yemen, the geography, their numbers and the fact that they hide/are entrenched among civilians make it very difficult.

I think something similar to 1991 (Desert Storm) would need to be created if the goal is complete Houthi removal. Due to geography and size it would be a much more challenging operation IMO. I don't see anyone having an appetite for that so it will be the occasional spanking (air raids). We will see if that will have the desired end result.

A guerilla force fighting on its home turf will always have an advantage. Everyone, including the French, learned that in Vietnam. We may have won every every battle but in the end, the locals still prevailed because our public grew tired of it.

Let's not talk about Afghanistan. We all know about that.

NW Yemen would be no different. Just easier to bomb them, go away for a few weeks to see if they act up again. And if they do, send another reminder.

Other than the ancient DIlmun monuments (World UNESCO Heritage sites), the beaches and certain areas of Manama, it is fairly boring. Very small island state as well.

It is better than Persian cuisine (not that it is bad). Many more exotic ingredients, many more spices used as well. More seafood etc. Unique cooking techniques as well that are only found in KSA and Oman elsewhere.

I don't recall the name, (it was a long time ago, over 10 years ago during my stay in the US - Santa Clara) but either Queen of Sheeba, Sabaean or Mandi. Ether that or it was actually just an Arabian generic restaurant but it was run by Yemenis (Hadhramis).

BTW, Phoenix is probably the most similar city to Riyadh in all of the US along with the other ones in New Mexico/Texas/Nevada. Even in terms of the weather, lol.

And how does Yemen plan to enforce such a ban?
With Iran's help. Won't let the Israeli's kill women and children.

Pakistani taxi drivers in third world UK/ EU watch and lament as usual here and the Al-Turkiyan actively assist Israel in killing dirt poor muzlims no?

Both Al-Turkiya and Pakistan get told.........or else!

Hah! I had that link open about 10 minutes ago when searching. Mandi and YS Mandi are both still open and near the university. Will make a note and stop by one or the other next week as I will be over there.

Good to know Riyadh weather is similar to PHX. Another reason to not go. Why when I can have 115F+ for weeks / months on end here. Was stationed in LAS for a year. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

I am not from Riyadh but the weather is fantastic for 6-8 months of the year. Almost zero humidity year round as well due to the inland location and elevation (600 meters +). The problem are the 4 summer months but you get used to it and stay inside between 12:00-17:00/18:00. Eastern Arabia (due to the humidity) is far worse during the summer months.

I visited Phoenix during the early spring and it was fantastic weather wise. 20-25 degrees celcius and sunny. Just like in Riyadh nowadays. Never visited those regions of the US during the summer (other than Southern California which is similar to KSA weather wise as well) and Florida (similar to coastal Hijaz as it is tropical too).

Anyway try living in a temperate climate where the summer last 3 months (at the most and that too is no guarantee of sunny or warm weather) and you will VERY quickly start missing not only the sun but warm weather.

It is for the very same reason that Americans themselves are flooding the Southern states and escaping the north from what I recall of seeing of statistics. Nobody wants to live in Michigan during the winter, lol.

Anyway, back to topic.

Anything around Israel will be destroyed. The more Israel will expand the more countries will be destroyed. Israel just reached Syria. And black sea and then Russia and Ukraine, Arminia are also not that far.
Russia better wakeup or get ready for annihilation. War with black rock and Vanguard will be bloody.

The US carrying out terror attacks in Yemen no suprise. Orange man trying to keep yahu happy, how they will fail as usual.

This Jared kushner and evangelical like Pete hegseth will lead trump and the Us down the wrong road ultimately. Trump should have never gotten Us military involved. What US trade passes through the Red Sea

This is not America's war, and most Americans are not in favor of being the world's policeman, especially for the rump state of Israel.

Trump's foreign policy does not surprise me. He packed his cabinet with Zionists.
