No.No, its not a blatant lie and you know I don't casually use 'Arabs' to criticize them. I understand the consequences for the GCC Arab nations (and for Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and many other poor countries) if the GCC is destablized but you are wrong on the GCC support for toppling Saddam! What @Persian Gulf said, I have not read do far, due to time constraints, but I distinctly remember in a giant Arab meeting leading to the Iraq War 2003, the Saudi led govts asked Saddam to resign or something like that and to that the Iraqi envoy/diplomat called them 'donkeys' or 'monkeys'. I don't remember the exact words--it was decades ago. But, yes, KSA took part in toppling Saddam even if indirectly. And the main reason Saddam was toppled was because of his love for Palestine. Look up his VERY final moments!!!!
KSA/Arab League tried to convince Saddam Hussein that he should step down to spare Iraq and Iraqis from the fatal invasion of Iraq which made and makes perfect sense as Saddam Hussein (or any leader for that matter) should not hold an entire people and country hostage. The fool did not do it and rest is history. The same fool invaded Kuwait back in 1991 for no reasons at all thinking that the US/world community would tolerate it. Unfortunately he made a lot of stupid decisions and I am saying this as a person that is overall positive towards Saddam Hussein and remember that Saddam Husseins Arab clan and tribe was Hejazi in origin. Relations with Saddam improved in the 1990's after 1991 and he made a few visists during the time of King Fahd and the other way around.
Anyway relations where unstable and turbulent for much of the time which was expected given the nature of the Saddam Hussein regime and his personality.
If he had listened to KSA he would maybe still be ruling today.
But what has happened has happened and it is not in our control and Allah (swt) will judge him and everyone else. We cannot make any statements with certainty without knowing all the facts and all the alternatives. We are speculating as we were not present during those times.
