Indian Navy News & Discussions

Of course sending warships to distant lands to destroy poor people of Africa is not considered war.
You mean you wish to make known to the Indian Navy the vehement protests of the people of Somalia against the intrusion into their state affairs?
That is understandable.

good experience indeed

do Indian ships have ABM SAM systems?
I don't think still we have ABM systems like AGIS of USA and allies or comparable systems on our warships.....

Interesting. Seems that almost all non-US Navy destroyers are still very vulnerable to ASBMs
In effect, we are back to the very dangerous battlecruiser vs battlecruiser days, where overgunned and underarmoured ships of a battleship size fought each other, with horrific consequences to the crews and appalling casualty figures.
The Battle of Jutland was the classic, but there were scaled down versions, with no battlecruisers involved, during the Second World War, and, of course, HMS Hood, although she was destroyed by a battleship.

Impressive, although testing in a controlled environment and putting into operation are obviously two different things. For at least the near future, most ships (from all countries) will remain undefended against ASBMs.
I am VERY sceptical about battlefield performance of these weapons.

Remember the USN Mark 14 torpedo, and how damage was caused by its failure at the beginning of the Pacific campaign?

US navy is still likely vulnerable to ASBMs, its probably just less vulnerable to the simpler/less potent ASBMs. Until USN ships face Iranian or Chinese ASBMs, i will not fully agree with this statement. Houthi military capabilities = not close to high military performance levels.

To avoid a surprise missile hit from the Houthis you need large number of small stealthy naval vessels (but large enough to have a with helicopter on board) and with small detachment of naval commandos on each naval vessel. It helps to have a carrier group well outside the Houthi missile range providing air cover. The Houthi drones are no match for 4th generation combat aircraft

Not everyone can live off like a leach selling oil to the evil Westerners. some smucks have to work for a living
I am not sure what westerners you think iran sells oil to, and oil can be a blessing and a curse, but I agree, and wouldn't shame those in poverty working hard to provide for themselves and their families.
