I’m not a Sunni. I’m a Shia who tries to understand strategy. Shias never had the power in Syria that Sunnis can bring to bear. The war has to occur within the Sunni world between the mainstream folks ie HTS, Hamas etc and ISIS and their backers. Force the war to transition from a Shia Sunni one to Sunnis vs Sunni and let them take sides. Sooner or later the side closest to the Shia position like the Palestinians will reach out to Iran for assistance and help, and that’s how Iran can regain influence and project power. The Russians can’t have a base in Syria. They need to pack up and be gone.
