Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

J-36 is the first fighter jet powered by three engines. It would have to prove its agility the way P-38 did when it was one of the earliest fighter planes powered by two engines.
DID P-38 HAVE SUPERSONIC SPEED LIKE J-36 HAS?

DON'T BE STUPID

both jets has a lots of control surfaces, the flight control team are balding.

Looks very agile for its size.
Huge delta wing means it has tons of AoA but also bleeds energy like no one’s business. But then that suits its purpose
- go through transonic region fast
- get lots of lift ( this is NOT going to fly any lower than 1000ft because that is not where it’s LO will shine)
- be able to change direction quickly in case it needs to defend

It seems that the rate of flight test for J-36 is about 2x faster than that of J-20, and for J-50, it is about 100x faster than that of J-31/35.

It almost looks like PLAAF want to get some of them for the scenario of a coming war in the very near future.
No
It’s because the design, build and test process is more digitized. J-20A was a test subject for rapidly printed sections and now it’s being scaled to where not only did a digital twin of the J-36 “flew” in every possible scenario before the real one even finished building.

Which is why when Chinese members make trolling comments on F-47 and NgAD they totally ignore the idea that Lockheed Martin some 12 years ago created an entire simulated environment with hyper accurate physics/ model in every sense (fluid, electromagnetic, systems etc) that a NGAD first flew there - including all possible VLO testing and weapons tests. Then one was rapidly prototyped and flown - data simply verified and then sent to Pentagon who kept evaluating and refining requirements.

China was not too far behind in this same approach which is why a J-36A(which may not even be a designation) will fly MUCH faster than the J-20A ever did and so on.
Infact there is already enough growth built into it like the B-21 so that there may not even be a A or B model. It will be like Nio electric cars battery swaps to change/upgrade J-36 or XDS.

This is the future - where you are no longer stuck with one model to then adapt but rather can scale to build sub models and variants - even print specific warhead types right on the base as needed using designs your AI comes up with in minutes for the mission profile.

Don't want to discredit the United States, but the US F47 is still in the design stage.

China can test fly so fast because it has excellent wind tunnels. The young team developing the J-20

The 4th outing seems like they fast-track the testing.. Yes, there is an urgency to get this bird out ASAP for production

In terms of appearance, I think SAC's new toys are better looking than CAC's new toys.................

Any idea why China has so many tests of the j36 n j50, is the project at advanced stage and possibly induction around 2030 time.

No, there are still tons of work needs to be done.
We have not even sighting on the designated wingman drone from both CAC and SAC, and they have to get the J20S in the service with the drone to get familiar with the tactics.

I wonder if third engine is there to help with being more energy efficient, when cruising other two engines could be on minimal use mitigate against the point you raised.

Not an HIGH agility but showing STANDARD agility, nothing special about it
