PA MLRS, Self Propelled and towed artillery [BM-11, Fatah-I GMLRS, Fatah-II] - News, Updates & Discussions

Performed well beyond expectations. Words can't define its performance.
If I am not wrong it was close to a decade to get those M777 and we got SH15 in relatively no time. They got the M777 for mainly one reason, the party piece, Excalibur. But Excalibur can be jammed so alot of hullabaloo for practically a dud now.

No more doubts about its warhead size. Allahu Akbar

Yep, it's beast of system

Our biggest issue was we have only been inducting these for the last few years and fatah 2 for about 1 year

That's not a great amount of time so our numbers will be limited

Give it 10 years and then we can induct thousands of these things

They are a PERFECT answer to brahmos or anything else, fast, Mobile, with a large destructive war head and accurate

China's next gen 155mm system is almost here, truck, track, wheel, shared the same chassis with Next gen tank, armour family, Pakistan maybe again the first foreign buyer.

The "same chassis" concept is something that the Russians tried to develop with the Armata tank but failed in so far. It has massive advantages over economies of scale, but also logistics, field level repairability ( i could go on ). The Eurotank programme in the EU is trying to adopt a similar concept aswell.

Given how much armour and Pakistan Army specific items that Pakistan has inducted recently, I am not sure how much more Pakistan can buy given its limited resources. Don't be surprised if the next round of procurements are to enhance the IADS to protect against saturation type attacks, CIWS/end stage type systems for base defence and J-35 procurements, and completing the round of naval programmes that are at the moment 1/3 of the way to completion right now.

The next MBT is two manned crew, hybrid combustion with 105mm main gun, it suprised many Chinese aswell.

Tank chassis's are terrible for things such as Self propelled artillery.

tank chassis shared with other armoured vehicle, 155mm has three to four varients, I think that's the plan, but so far, not much detail in public domain.

PLAGF is mass producing PHL-191 (modified AR-3) with fire loong 280A, our answer to the US prsm, range 500KM on paper but insider says the actual range could be over 800KM.

This is something Pakistan should really adapt and use on its fatah, combined real time drone, sat surveillance, that would bring havock upon the Indian.

You can't write of the M777 like that, reasons being, it's a light fairly portable artillery piece with good range & destructive firepower with its 155mm gun.

It's role is different to our SH-15 which is mainly shoot & scoot whilst the m777 is more of a gun that can be virtually taken everywhere (as its air transportable) & this plays a crucial role for its usage atop Kashmir mountains.

Having M777 or analogue to it would be a massive boost in Pak inventory.

Pakistan could do with light air transportable artillery guns, for both the Kashmir & Western theatre with AFG.

M777 in Ukraine were used in the start to deliver Excalibur. But they jammed the GPS signal so the efficacy of Excalibur was short lived. then there are videos of M777 getting demolished by drones.

Now Ukraine is dependent on mobile artillery. Static guns are a death sentence. You need to fire and be constantly on the move. M777 is great if you can fire your salvo and receive only small arms fire like in Afghanistan.

But in counter and now counter counter battery fire, M777 is a dud.
