US redline: zero enrichment in Iran.
Iran redline: legal right to enrichment for civilian purposes.
Compromise: Iran temporarily pauses enrichment for one year while US publicly accepts Iran's legal right to enrichment. Iran then resumes enrichment after one year having had its right to enrich recognised.
This seems like a better outcome for Iran than the US as it is the US that is ultimately backing down from its demand that Iran cannot enrich any uranium for any purpose.
But the Reuters articles claims this has not even been discussed at the talks yet and it is not clear that Iran would even accept a temporary pause in enrichment.
Its a trap, if enrichment stops its not easy to restart back up again. And there is a loss of latent capacity. For the latent capacity to be viable throughout, the enrichment process cannot be stopped.
