JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Not seen any new pictures of the JF-17 Thunder Block 3 since serisl number 23-323. That was 2 years ago.

According to retired Air Commodore Khalid Chishti who has exclusive access to PAF, in a recent interview (with Siasat.pk I think?), said that Pakistan Air Force is currently operating over 200 JF-17 Thunders.

Publically known JF-17 Thunder inventory so far:
(50+59+26+23 -(4)) = 154

So, has Pakistan quietly acquired at least 46 additional JF-17 Thunder Block-3 aircrafts in the last 2-3 years without making any announcements?

By the way, Air Commodore's YouTube Channel if you're interested.
150 is the correct number. 50 - 50 - 50. Having said that a few block III were diverted to the Azerbaijan order thus delayed the standing up of a new PAF squadron. This Kamra has to rectify especially under the current circumstances.

Sir if we are making 24 to 30 unit on annual bases than what is the urgency Azharbjijan is facing? National priority must be on top.

One more question does this include multi seat training model of Block 3 as well?

Everything currently is going towards fulfilling export orders

Now if Azerbaijan has expanded its order to 40 jets, then I don't know if any follow on order will be slowed down to meet domestic demand

But their are always rumours of export orders for JF17s and their are a number of interested parties

So I don't know how they will prioritize things

Production in China. Remember it is a marketing JV.

Their is no longer any line in China

The only existing line is In Pakistan

Restarting the line in China requires more investment and then you have to have a idea of confirmed orders etc to make it worth while

I don't believe their will be any more lines in China

At best we can open a second line in Pakistan, if we think we can later move everything over to the PFX with the idea of a lot of export orders to multiple countries who have been frozen out of the 5th Gen market

For the moment this is all we have,

If Pakistan can produce 24 fighters per year, then we might as well keep a few for ourselves and the rest for export, especially if the follow on rumours of order from other countries turn out to be true, the line will be active for the next 5-10 years and we can concentrate on the PFX

And in the meantime just induct J10s and J35s

This is also why the F16s are still important for the moment
