JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

pg 36, July 2025 issue of Airforce Monthly:
(Likely inaccurate news in my view)

The Ops Sindoor article from pg 31 to 37 is not written by Alan Warnes, who has access to PAF and gets first hand info. Rather it is written by Babak Taghvaee an expat Iranian dissident; known Susrali lover and Pakistan hater. @Pakistan Space Agency

We would have seen a couple of more squadrons converted to Jf-17 if PAF indeed had 200 units comprising 50 block 3s.

So the on ground picture with 4 missiles is not proof enough. But we need to satisfy your need to see it with 4 missiles in the air?

I see - why exactly - who are you?
Just want to see if it can fit ..no reason for no pics with missiles

Give it a rest, the PAF isn't your personal papparazzi. If you dont believe in our capability, you are welcome to come test us. Bring the Tejas.
Who cares about tejas ..I was just wondering why I don’t see jf17!pics with 4 pl15

But the pictures are out there with the fit.
What do you think you will feel if it fits or doesn’t fit?

I meant if it can fly with the missiles ..just showing them on the ground doesn’t mean it can fly ..anyway ..my question was very simple ..are there any pics with the Jeff flying with 4x pl15 but looks like the answer is no.

@Tariq Habib Afridi hello the Radar limitations were in earlier blocks with block 3 the EW suite, RWR all are good in jf17. The reason we bought j10 was for deterrence against Rafale and also the reason jf17 carries less weaponry on single mission. and in long range the use of drop tanks reduce the no. of hp available for missiles and bombs. J10 is more agile as well. However, jf17 can work for Iran in such a way that Iran in time of crisis can rely on Pakistan to supply components that are produced domestically in Pakistan and also the TOT is possible.

Can the J-10C carry missiles instead of fuel tanks?

Dear brother, GAN?GaA radar T/R modules consume power and so other sensors. why we didnt put IRST in JF17C? because the JF17C engine cannot provide that much power. @Michael explain this thing in this thread very clearly.

Just note, its only the page 7 article that is written by Alan Warnes. The pg.30 onwards is by Babak.

My point about Babak was that there's no way he would be given any access by PAF given Babak's severe bias. Other than that, his open source posts are well researched, but things like Block-3 numbers are not open source. It's like Deino or Justin Bronks comes and suddenly says PAF has X number of Block-3s, you would take that with a grain of salt.

I know that. Hi-lo mix is what I am saying like Pakistan Iran needs hi-lo mix of fighters. I never said jf17 is equal to j10 I said it provides similar performance but on light note but its no 50% difference. Jf17 is also Pakistan product so it makes a big diff, we have control on it and can do any alterations if required. Iran should have jf17 with some other medium to heavy fighter.

Obviously RD93 cant give same power to jf17 as j10 engines do.
