No it brings other limitations as well. payload is not an issue when all iran would need is to deny its air space. but the actual issue came in the radar and other sensors due to low thrust of engine power.

It's a numbers game, enough JF17s with PL15s and AWAC and ground radar support are a sufficient deterrence defending your own state backed up by your own A.D

Especially if you safeguarding areas and specific sites and cities

The other advantage being that JF17s are open to incorporating any iranian missile they want
So in future if Iran wants to work on its own BVRs or munitions or glide bombs it can request work done to incorporate them
If it wants to work on its own air launched cruise missiles or anti ship missiles

Their is nothing that will be a NO

At a lower cost JF17s represent NUMBERS and a level of independence with your own weaponry



Iran if possible needs to get it's Su35s for long range bombing missions

Get the J10C for air superiority

And back that all up with multiple JF17s to do the day to day heavy lifting, quick response and utilization of iranian weapons as well as the PFX option in future


And in future work closer with allies be more open to obtain a 5th Gen option from China or maybe even Turkey if relations improve to that extent
