Translating for International Audience so reality of our fake government gets exposed , all those politicians that fly around in private jet to Europe and USA to eat Dinners and attend Lavish Parties
PTV (Pakistan Television will never Air this)
Private Channel will show Drama about Rich Guys fighting over Heroin, In Law vs Wife stories

Translation
"Same old Stories in Punjab , we can't even feed Milk to our Children
My Children now are 14 year old , however I could not easily provide them
a glass of a milk , Milk is a Luxury (in Agricultural Pakistan). Why because I am from Poor Man in Pakistan , every day I wake up early go to work (halal income) and even then I can't buy Milk in today's inflation

When Politicians control their government , no one thinks about the People at ground level , it is not us current generation but the our future generations are also in debt now

Man Crises , and asks the Reporter to go ask other people as well
And repeats again , crying , we can't afford to buy Milk. My 5 year old , has not even seen what Milk looks like (Wipes his tear)

I work 12 hours sometimes I even work 16 hours but at end of day our situation does not change because of rising inflation

-Translation End-

This is our Reality !! This is 85% of Pakistan

I think there is some dissonance here and particularly the claim of "85%".
The inflation is the lowest ever (meaning affordability is as good as it has ever been in Pakistan and this is backed up by local and foreign sourced data and I do NOT credit the current government for it as a lot of external factors are at play here as well). Anecdotally speaking, the markets and restaurants are packed with consumers and weddings, even those of lower middle and middle class, are fairly opulent events.
I certainly think there is dire poverty in Pakistan but I think we need a better gauge instead of these anecdotal interviews. The way questions are posed to people, the demographic that is asked such questions, all of these have a hand in painting the picture a particular way.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is an economic indicator that measures the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. In simpler terms, it tracks the cost of a typical set of things that people buy to see how prices are changing

Sorry bro. Pakistan government is famous for fudging figures of any type. 58% of the people of Pakistan have lost their buying power for things like food etc. The people in restaurants are mostly the elite and the tajir society who evade paying their taxes.

As bad, or not, inflation and the consequent loss of buying power is, what I fail to understand is how changing a figurehead or two, based on one's personal preference of a demagogue, is going to change the stark underlying reality that has held true in Pakistan across decades of changes of government: a country that produces far less than what it consumes can only get poorer and poorer with each passing year.

Honestly, I have been hearing this "the ppl in restaurants are elite" for close to 2 decades. This isn't the entire case. Pakistan's elite is a small portion of the overall population. What is usually always overlooked is the undocumented economy which is worth billions of dollars and remains untaxed. That gives lower and upper middle class some additional fiscal space which I believe we see in terms of consumer spending.
There is certainly an absolutely poor class as well and that needs to be looked into. Not suggesting to let them eat cake here but I really think there is some dissonance here from the actual ground reality.

For 1 person eating in the restaurants, there are 3 begging outside. It used to be 1:1 ratio 20 years ago.

Its simple maths. An average salaried person cannot afford eating out more than once a month and i am not talking about michelin star restaurants eating out, but average diner out there.

As long as Pakistan continues to produce far less than what it consumes, that ratio can only get worse and worse as the country grows poorer and poorer with each passing year. Simple Math.

it's like watching titanic

As long as the macro is ticking up, expect speed humps.

From 2028 Pakistan will have a more money to spend. Right now time to tighten your belts. There is an IMF programme on top of you. Should be a lesson never to go into IMF again.

Pakistan needs bloody revolution....we never achieved a true freedom from our corrupt generals and politicians......There need to be an accountability through bullets....

enough of this nonsense about constitution , judiciary and military clowns.....they all need to taste the real medicine.... mass uprising resulting in destruction of the entire corrupt system...

Very easy to say that from the safety of the other side of the world.

Actually just yesterday I met with someone who has the means, intention and desire to do something in Pakistan after his family and friends were picked up by plain cloth ISI agents and abused......

Don't think things cannot happen from far away.....His only restraint is because his leader in jail will not agree to him unleashing.
