I think there is some dissonance here and particularly the claim of "85%".
The inflation is the lowest ever (meaning affordability is as good as it has ever been in Pakistan and this is backed up by local and foreign sourced data and I do NOT credit the current government for it as a lot of external factors are at play here as well). Anecdotally speaking, the markets and restaurants are packed with consumers and weddings, even those of lower middle and middle class, are fairly opulent events.
I certainly think there is dire poverty in Pakistan but I think we need a better gauge instead of these anecdotal interviews. The way questions are posed to people, the demographic that is asked such questions, all of these have a hand in painting the picture a particular way.
Inflation and affordability are not the same thing. High inflation has led to much higher prices. Inflation coming down means prices will increase at a lower rate, not that prices have decreased, or peoples incomes have increased to be able to afford things.
Absolutely everyone on this forum is either overseas or wealthy. The language skills of our members shows that they are not from working class families and didn't attend state schools. They might not be elite wealthy, but they are wealthy enough to afford a top tier education in Pakistan. They're comfortable, middle class.
