Pakistani People Fed Up with rises prices under Maryem Nawaz Punjab Government

I think there is some dissonance here and particularly the claim of "85%".
The inflation is the lowest ever (meaning affordability is as good as it has ever been in Pakistan and this is backed up by local and foreign sourced data and I do NOT credit the current government for it as a lot of external factors are at play here as well). Anecdotally speaking, the markets and restaurants are packed with consumers and weddings, even those of lower middle and middle class, are fairly opulent events.
I certainly think there is dire poverty in Pakistan but I think we need a better gauge instead of these anecdotal interviews. The way questions are posed to people, the demographic that is asked such questions, all of these have a hand in painting the picture a particular way.

Inflation and affordability are not the same thing. High inflation has led to much higher prices. Inflation coming down means prices will increase at a lower rate, not that prices have decreased, or peoples incomes have increased to be able to afford things.

Absolutely everyone on this forum is either overseas or wealthy. The language skills of our members shows that they are not from working class families and didn't attend state schools. They might not be elite wealthy, but they are wealthy enough to afford a top tier education in Pakistan. They're comfortable, middle class.

I am a memon with parents from Karachi.

Let me tell you what is happening within the memon elites in Karachi. They are reducing their footprint in Pakistan and a few of them have set up shop in UAE. Some have formed partnerships to become developers and raking in a good sum.

The others, are quietly investing in units in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and relying on passive income.

Apart from that, alot of them are thriving in trading and services business.

In short, the avenues of investments within Pakistan has thinned out. Call it red tape, political stability, economic factors, monopolistic behavior, trimming of purchasing power.

If Pakistan can correct its short comings, there are billions of dollars waiting to be deployed.

Gujjus are used to doing businesses where returns are on average more than 200 percent. Those days are over in almost all countries of the world apart from some developing countries in Africa, which has a sizeable Gujju population plying their trade as usual.

The extinct 50cc environmental terrorist of a two wheeler is preferred mode of transportation for the small manufacturing elite in Karachi.

Lot of Memon businesses in Bombay, Gujarat too. Maybe you can encourage your kinsmen to invest in India too.

Regards

It's ironic your countrymen literally call us beggars on government level yet slight whiff of Lakshmi and lo behold an Indian.

@El Sidd mian,

We Hindus are like that only.

Memons are not exactly Gujratis but I get your gist.

There are many memons that side of the border who’re heavily invested in real estate, textiles, bollywood production, service industries.

Pakistanis, contrary to what Indian media might have you believe, is predominantly an agrarian society with majority of its people able to make ends meet.

Also the fact that there is a large grey economy, which was previously being funneled into real estate. Things have slowed down on that front, but doesn't mean people don’t have the capital.

At the moment, people are happy with deploying capital and expecting 6-8% in UAE, Africa, US, Canada. Thats pretty low as per Memon standards.

Actually just yesterday I met with someone who has the means, intention and desire to do something in Pakistan after his family and friends were picked up by plain cloth ISI agents and abused......

Don't think things cannot happen from far away.....His only restraint is because his leader in jail will not agree to him unleashing.

Let us see what the Great Leader is actually capable of doing himself or through his minions. Highly unlikely IMO.

A bloody revolution, attractively cathartic as it may sound, is definitely NOT the solution to Pakistan's deep seated issues, given their socioeconomic dimensions. These problems have taken root over decades and will take decades of sustained effort to correct, if ever.

Corruption and looting of taxpayer money needs to be stopped. These politicians are all corrupt and been doing it for decades with no consequences

That is because the Generals are 10 steps ahead of politicians when it comes to corruption, heck even their wives and children have millions of dollars in their banks.

Check this clip from 8.40 of another General who has looted Pakistan.

In Pakistan, 85% of people are struggling. A father cries on camera saying his 5-year-old has never seen milk. He works 12–16 hours a day but still can’t afford basic food due to rising inflation. Meanwhile, politicians live in luxury, ignoring the real suffering of the poor. This is the reality hidden from TV screens.

brother, have you seen the video of Former Punjab CM Watoo attend a janaza?

He's in the first line of the janaza prayer inside his Landcruiser Prado.

These are the people in govt. He's been in PML, PTI and PPP.

Career politician - this is his contempt for someone who he deemed worthy of attending his funeral prayer. You don't have to imagine to understand what they think of us.

This time around boom and bust cycle have broken back of average people. There is still no recovery in sight with 2-3% GDP growth rate.

And population growth is high as ever.

IMF managed economy cannot provide relief to the poor. Especially in Pakistan where rent seeking elite dominate.
