JF-17 PFX program

A poor copy TBH.

Roosi?

PFX will most likely be a medium weight fighter jet, same size or close to J-10C.

Based on the picture/Video shared on in IDEAS 2024.

PFX specification should be close to:
Crew: one
Length: 16.9 m (55 ft 5 in)
Wingspan: 9.76 m (32 ft 0 in)
Height: 3.52 m (11 ft 7 in)
Wing area: 41 m² (440 sq ft)

For PFX, I would seriously consider a block 3, offered with WS-21 engine and KLJ-7A2 AESA radar. Finally solving the two major issues of all JF-17 blocks, i.e power/thrust and engagement range.

These two changes won't required significant structural modifications as well. Just some rewiring to compensate for the "higher" electrical power now.

What do members here think of this ?

This is probably along the idea of what it will be. There won't be a major structural change. It will focus on subsystems and local control.

According the the video which show PFX as dual engine and size and weight closer to Medium weight fighter but it's single engine, it should be slighter larger and heavier than JF-17B3.

Don't take none of these images or show pieces seriously, they are just placeholders by an intern.

Even the models at NASTP are all just taken from elsewhere found from foreign projects.

I say @Afif what do you say?

I don't see any real incentive on our part in the short term. Though Trump admin is twisitng our arm regarding our long standing defence cooperation with china. There might be a chance that we switch to JF17 from J10c procurement plan to circumvent US pressure/concerns. But then it would depend on how much JF17 PFX brings to table compared to JF17 B3. Is it just a higher degree of indigenization on Pak side or an actual capability upgrade? Exactly how long will it take to materialise? Does it even make sense for us to be part of the program at this point? Or are there other priorities in defence industry development that we should manage first?

Personally I think it makes a lot more sense to partner in the field of UAV development. Easier to build expertise and absorve technologies. Plus, this is something BAF is meaningfully Interested in right now and actively working on it. BAF has already produced KX-2 UAV after a long time development (from the scratch) and reportedly working on a larger male version. This is an area where NESCOM has lots of expertise. And Pak has more geopolitical and regional security incentive to partner with BD in defence and tech sharing compared to other actors (e.g. Turkey.)

Hi,

I believe that bangladesh is so far behind in modern weapons procurement that if it does not act urgent---it maybe left way behind the eight ball---.

The regional turmoil is not in its favor---. Function & utility of a weapon would be the saving grace---show and pomp won't help---.

For BD issue is not longer actual procurement.

They simply do not have the infrasturcture, training regime,, logistics, bases or support network for high end fighters.

A 4.5th gen or 5th Gen fighter for them would be a liability and target, not an asset.

Bangladesh should procure some Shahpar 3s, Fatah MLRS, Fatah 2 ballistic missiles, and we can have a decade long BAF expansion program spanning infrastructure and training.

The problem is Bangladeshi leadership is still weary of spooking the Saar.

If Pakistan can pull this off then it will be best 4+++ gen bird i.e. JFT streamlined and optimized with F-16XL wing design along TVC, that wing design can allow a heavy payload, longer range multirole stealthy fighter jet.

Which model specifically are you referring to? There are 3-4 different models that are spread out in videos and places in Pakistan. I don't think they have any specific model finalised as of now.
